The poll was obviously devised by a right-winger, because our options are lukewarm. I would have liked to have seen the option that children born in the United States are American citizens. But, instead, we got this:

An opinion piece in the Rollins College newspaper takes the position that children of illegal immigrants should not be given automatic U.S. citizenship. Do you agree?
* Yes. We have to start a sane immigration policy in this country. Too many people are entering the U.S. illegally.
* No. It's insensitive and near criminal to punish the children of illegal immigrants. These kids are Americans.
* Yes. Anyone who came here illegally should be deported -- along with their kids, even if they were born here.
* No. Proponents of harsh immigration laws don't know their history. Did Native Americans ask for immigration papers when the pilgrims came here?
