'Solidarity Saturday' in Los Angeles - pics
LOS ANGELES, CA - MARCH 26: People participate in a march supporting union workers in what protesters have dubbed, 'Solidarity Saturday' on March 26, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. Union members and their allies from community, religious and civil rights organizations gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center and marched to Pershing Square in hopes of sending out a message that collective bargaining rights cannot be taken away from unions.

9. very exciting. my cousin was in that crowd
3 of my 4 cousins who are teachers in CA were let go.

At one of my cousin's middle school the superintendent came in and told the teachers THEY failed the students. It wasn't the student's fault but THEIR fault that the test scores weren't up.

I just heard about that today from my mom. My cousin is very caring and dedicated as are all the teachers in my family. It made me sick. My mom said my cousin was devastated. This school doesn't even have enough books or desks for their students and many parents are unemployed.

So I am very glad LA workers marched. I live in MN and was able to go out to the Madison, WI rallies and would excitedly call back home to CA to tell them of the chanting "THANK YOU!" to the workers.

I hope the teachers and other workers felt that in LA

10. Awesome!
Today, some of us were on the second level of the Capitol in Madison, exercising our First Amendment Rights by protesting in the "non-demonstration areas" of the building. There was a pretty good group of people on the ground floor in the "demonstration area," as well. A woman walked in to the rotunda, with her phone up to her ear. She made the announcement that she was talking with someone at the L.A. rally, where there were 20,000 protesters in support of workers' rights.

A great "Thank you, thank you" chant erupted in our crowd, which was well-received by the phone-caller listening in from L.A. :toast:
