Union-Busting: Six Fired After Demanding Sick Days for Fast-Food Workers
Six key organizers with the Jimmy John’s Workers’ Union in Minneapolis were fired on Tuesday, March 22, after putting up posters around the city demanding paid sick days from the sandwich chain. According to David Boehnke, one of the discharged workers, the six workers received notices that they were fired for “defaming the brand and disloyalty to the company.”

1. tell others. These workers should be forced to work when sick
http://www.jimmyjohnsworkers.org/

these workers need our support.

"It just isn't safe -- customers are getting their sandwiches made by people with the flu, and they have no idea," said Micah
Buckley-Farlee, one of the fired workers, "and now we're getting fired for blowing the whistle on this disgusting practice. Rather than safeguard public health and do the right thing for their employees and their customers, Jimmy John's owners Mike and Rob Mulligan are trying to silence us. These illegal and offensive firings will not stand."

2. The fat's in the fire for another huge labor movement uprising.
This time more working people who are non union will be supportive, I predict. A lot of working people are truly alarmed at the strong arm tactics of the union busters. The old "pollitics of resentment" are working as well as they once did. More people are struggling and can relate to others who are in the same boat.

5. I used to love Jimmy John's, but I'm off the stuff altoegether
until they agree to letting worker organize. I'm disgusted at the behavior of the owners.

7. Why would a company expect "loyalty" ...
... from employees that are required to work even when they're sick?

Treat your workers well, listen and respond to their concerns, and then you can expect loyalty.

10. Work when you're sick-anyone recall the Influenza epidemic of 1918?
No respect for their employees, no respect or concern for their customers.

11. the posters should have said
"Your last Jimmy Johns' sandwich was made by a person with active influenza"

That'd grab some attention.
