Bloomberg Booed at Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Commemoration
from AlterNet:

Bloomberg Booed at Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Commemoration

Perhaps a good thermometer for the country's mood on union-busters: NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg was booed at a ceremony remembering the 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, which killed 146 women and children and forced the country to adopt more humane labor laws. In a speech, Bloomberg noted this fact, but attendees apparently felt he was fronting.

Raw Story:

"You have a right to live and work in dignity and earn the chance to advance in life," Bloomberg said. "They made reforms that helped turn America's ideals into realities."

However Bloomberg's speech, carried live on NY1 television, was interrupted repeatedly by loud booing.

The mayor, in his third term, has run into stiff opposition from public sector unions to his budget cuts and attempts to reform what he says is an unaffordable public pension system.

Not to mention he essentially bullied the residents of New York into said third term, sliming the city council into changing the rules for his benefit and then, halfway into it, deciding letting mayors have three terms wasn't a good idea after all. (Still miffed about that one, obviously.) .............(more)

1. I'm miffed about that last thing, too. He's a bum. Although he's for marriage equality,
so I cut him a little slack, now and then, from time to time.
