Busted for Growing Pot to Ease Suffering from Chemotherapy, Couple Prepares for 5-Year Prison Terms |
|
After more than six years of litigation, and three years of appeals for manufacturing and conspiracy to manufacture and distribute cannabis, Dr. Marion "Mollie" Fry and her husband of 25 years, civil attorney Dale Schafer, attended a hearing at the US courthouse in Sacramento Monday week, in which their bonds were revoked and they were given a the date of May 2 to surrender to serve five-year federal prison terms http://www.alternet.org/drugs/150353/busted_for_growing_pot_to_ease_suffering_from_chemotherapy_and_hemophilia%2C_couple_prepares_to_surrender_for_5-year_prison_terms/

I'm not so sure that is the case in comparisons to what is available in the so called free world.

sad as it is. The really sad part is the allowing ourselves to be enslaved like we have by the big corporations and special interests. How did they do it, I mean weren't we paying attention or what?

I was here once before - in 1981 when the Iranian hostages were released on Reagan's inauguration. I saw how willingly the American people let themselves be duped, because they didn't want to wear a sweater & cut back on their life styles. I didn't vote for the next 20 years. I think I'm there again.

The laws are seriously fucked up. Either that or someone wanted this to become a lesson.
And WHY wasn't the doctor allowed to tell the court what his profession was?
This is BULLSHIT.

19. laws often bar affirmative defence such as illness, state permission to use medical mj |
|
etc. Basically they are denied any legit reason to defend themselves and so get railroaded. it is a steaming load of bullcrap. Barney Frank keeps introducing bills to allow affirmative defense but never gets enough support for it to go anywhere and so the feds can go after people like these and waste unholy amounts of money and the time of law enforcement going after sick folks instead of going after real criminals.

Thug cops busted in my front door at midnite. Said thay had a call from neighbor that I was slamming a woman into the wall. Said they would come in, without a warrant. Unloaded right wing talking points at me. I went OFF. Told them what was what. Educated their dumbasses about the law. For about two hours, in handcuffs. Chased their sorry asses right out my door, as they kept imploring me to be quiet. I had gotten a crooked judge and cop busted by the AG two months prior. Yes, I was lucky, but if I am going down, I am going to bust heads doing so.

My experience also. After calling the FBI and the USDOJ about a justice-for-sale scam in my county courthouse (which the feds did absolutely nothing about), my neighbors said I had been walking around with a target on my back ever since.
They were right.

this war on marijuana will go down in history as being one of the cruelest things the USA has ever done. It's only because it's a PLANT and a WEED that they drug companies can't patent - that's why it's illegal. if they could figure out how to get rich off it - it would be legal in a second!
fuck the DEA, fuck the prosecutor, fuck ANYONE who stands for this idiocy! this is so wrong - i wish to hell we could put the DEA on trial - they are nothing more than thugs protecting the alcohol and pharmaceutical industries under the guise of law. and Obama should be ASHAMED of himself for allowing this shit to continue to this day - even though he said it would end! he better fucking pardon these two before he leaves office.
what the hell is wrong with people putting people like this in PRISON for FIVE FUCKING YEARS?!?!? :banghead:

For growing pot.
Ridiculous. How about a few years of community service for this tiny offense.
Hell, I got caught with 1/2 a joint in the car and I got ordered to go to 15 NA meetings. This is CRUEL & UNUSUAL punishment! NA is a friggin' religious cult. I, not being addicted to anything, am not welcome.
5 years in prison, like my stupid sentence, is simply absurd.

|
and for running from the cops when they tried to raid him and he ended up getting 2 months in jail and they told him he would have only gotten probation had he not run, he was not a medical paitent, just an unemployed person who likely would have sold, i still think it sucks that he got busted, but this is france and you really have to be unlucky to actually get sentenced to jail for growing weed, if you sell you CAN get jail but again have to be really unlucky or be getting busted for the third or fourth time or something.
