Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann Declares ‘I Am An Iowan’

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Congresswoman Michele Bachmann represents Minnesota’s sixth Congressional district, but lately she sounds a lot like she’s looking to relocate.

Bachmann, who was born in Iowa and appears to be setting herself up for a presidential bid, played up her local roots at a forum for potential 2012 Republican candidates here on Saturday.

“I am an Iowan,” she declared before a cheering crowd, noting that she was born in Waterloo in 1956. “I am a seventh generation Iowan -- that’s even better.”

Bachmann said her “forebears were big, tall, strapping” Norwegians. “I don’t know where I came from in the DNA chain,” she joked. .............(more)

Half of my grandparents and most of my great-granparents where born in Iowa so that makes me a son-of-an-Iowan.

14. I think I'm going to become a birther on this...
Sarah Palin claims she can see Russia from her front porch.

Considering that there's a mountain range to the west of Wasilla, Wasilla is fairly far from the western coastline of Alaska and mainland Russia is over the horizon from Alaska anyway, the only thing I can see is Sarah Palin uses her X-ray vision to see through the earth's crust.

This means Sarah Palin had to have been born on the Planet Krypton. Either that, or she was part of a bizarre Army experiment. Either way, I want to see the vault copy of her birth certificate.

32. It's very possible...
but I don't think either the Professor or Magneto would want someone on their team whose only superpower is the ability to put her foot in her mouth at the speed of sound.

20. You know, in a drinking game between those two
I think a person would get serious alcohol poisoning especially if one did a shot every time they said something stupid. So do not drink if they ever debate.

16. NO NO NO!
We cannot claim her, nor will we.
Her saying that she is an Iowan is kind of like me saying like I an Illinoisan because I was born in Illinois. Except I go to Illinois a whole lot more than she comes to Iowa. Until now. Damn! I hope she doesn't infect our great state permanently. Otherwise, I may very well become an actual Illinoisan.

19. And one more comment...
It is quite likely that nobody knows where she came from in the DNA chain. In other words, the human chain.

21. How does one considered themselves to be an Iowan
when she probably remembers little of that time? Her parents moved with her from Iowa to Minnesota when she was young. Sometime before 6th grade. She's been a Minnesotan for over 40 years.

26. Oh, yeah
That'll go over well with her MN constituents.

On second thought, her constituents are brain-dead morans. They don't even read newspapers or browse the web. If they did, they wouldn't have voted in someone dumber than they are.

Wait, I take that back. Maybe there IS an advantage to voting in someone dumber than yourself. It makes YOU look like a Harvard Rhodes Scholar.
