1. The location of spent rod storage casks and pools is public knowledge.
While many don't know that spent fuel in the US is almost universally stored on site at each nuclear facility, it's easy enough for the bad people to know where they are.

3. OK, but other than that, nuke power is...
...safe, green, and our only hope! And there are no easy alternatives without decades of slow and costly development, and even then, the amount of energy generated would be insufficient!!

At least, that's what I've been told for 35+ years, so it must be true.

4. Just the opposite - there should be more public awareness and oversight of this risk
People should know that if they get a reactor in their back yard,
they are also going to get nuclear waste in their back yard, too.
And that waste will be a danger long after the reactor shuts down.
