4. Fukushima Is Fukushima... |
|
There's never been an incident of this magnitude before and thus attempts to try to compare it to either TMI or Chernobyl are poor markers.
This isn't one reactor but at least 4 that are compromised with a lot more fuel than the other reactors. What's alarming is how its being handled. I heard yet another expert explain it the other day as "flying by the seat of their pants". This is that accident that could have never happened and thus it's all ad hoc on how it's being dealt with and, unfortunately, reported.
The ugly truth is we know little...there hasn't been anyone able to get near any of those nuclear cores to really know what's going on and as things get worse the chances for that diminish. Seems the best hope is that the containment below those reactors can hold or at least slow the meltdown process to allow some kind of "entombing" to happen. But again it's all conjecture as this is truly uncharted waters. It's one of those "exercizes" someone may have tried to put down on paper but was never thought to be possible (at least by those who could have and should have known better).
I'm skeptical of a lot of the reporting as no one truly knows what lies ahead...a slow motion disaster that continues to appear to be overwhelming not only TEPCO and the Japanese Government but the science community as well.

5. Laughable. It's like comparing a police shoot out to the war in Iraq. |

6. What does that mean? Which is which and why do you say so? |
|
After all, those are pretty different orders of magnitude.
Are you saying that Chernobyl was a police shoot out and Fukushima is the Iraq War?
