Boycott Johnsonville Sausages...This is what Bratocracy Looks Like
Edited on Sun Mar-27-11 10:13 AM by HereSince1628
Can the smell of brats reunite Wisconsin?

Budget battle boycotters talk about people putting their money where their mouths are. Some are hoping Brat Fest in Madison is where their mouths used to be. They're asking anyone mad about Gov. Scott Walker's pounding of public unions to boycott the World's Largest Brat Fest.

Johnsonville Sausage, the Sheboygan Falls company that donates 150,000 brats to the festival each year, is on the boycott list because of contributions made to Walker's campaign by the family owners.

<Snip>

A virtual alternative brat fest has sprung up online. People are encouraged to skip the real festival and instead make a donation to Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. It comes with this disclaimer for anyone watching their mailbox: "Virtual means you don't actually get a real brat, just a cyberbrat." One donor quipped, "This is what brat-ocracy looks like!"

<snip>

It's hard to say whether brats will go uneaten at the festival. The smell from the grills has a tendency to leave us powerless to resist.

1. Maybe a REAL alternative bratfest should be planned instead.
At a park - not a parking lot. With different brands of brats, like Usinger's, Jacobson Bros, Klements, Sheboygan

They can take collections for Second Harvest PLUS we can still eat brats. I'll come!

5. The brats you've mentioned are 1000 times better
than Johnsonville "salt sticks." Sargento cheese is on my boycott list too.

6. I didn't know about Sargento! OFF my list too.
Yes, I agree, the other brat brands are better. I am working up an appetite for brats... with some sauerkraut baked with green apples & caraway. I think I have tonight's supper figured out. :P

2. If I don't feel confident that I have sufficient income ...
I wouldn't 'splurge' on any of Johnsonville's pricey products ....

Problem solved, Johnsonville - YOU help elect a man who reduces my pay, so that, now, I wont be able to buy your products anymore .....

They don't seem to get it ...

9. J-ville, Kwik, Sargento
Morning,
Some weeks ago I sent e-mails to these 3 companies suggesting they had seen the last of me.....
Not one of these customer service driven corporations had the stones to answer my complaints about
their political donations.......Hello Chavez Oil, Scalia Sausage and Bongaard's Cheese.

10. For My Money, The BEST Brats On The Market............
...........are the ones you pick up from a local butcher shop. I've found that to be true of pretty much EVERY kind of meat. It's always better from the butcher shop. So if you have a grocery store that has a butcher's counter or an independent butcher shop in your neighborhood, just get your meat from them. It's 100 times better than the pre-packaged stuff in the refrigerated cases, and probably a lot fresher too.
