Florida's pRick Scott's teacher evaluation bill |
|
pRick Scott’s Teacher Evaluation Bill SB 776 has a section where teachers can be fired for “immorality”. This is in addition to another section that states that teachers can be fired for crimes involving moral turpitude. The bill does not define “immorality”. According to Florida Administrative Code (which may have changed since I checked a few years back), Corrections Workers and Correctional Probation Officers could be fired for "homosexuality." It was the number one listed reason for termination -- a one-word entry at the top of the list of reasons, mostly criminal acts. If there was a suspicion that you were gay, the suspicion was enough to trigger disciplinary action for immorality. So this is a way to apply similar criteria to teachers, enabling the firing of teachers who might be gay. Of course we know that straight teachers never would molest the dear little ones. :sarcasm: Naturally, Scott, a paragon of virtue, elected by a party dominated by christian fanatics, caters to their agenda.

Look, you might try reading the Florida Code.
You know, the section where 'immorality' is defined. (Rule 6B-4.009(2) FAC) (1983)
Then, you can read about how Florida teachers have always been subject to firings for 'immorality.' (Section 1012.795(1)(c), F.S.)
Check it out. It took me about 30 seconds, and would make your OP based on facts, not speculation.
FYI--teachers in most states can be fired for 'immorality.'
