For those who saw Leslie Stahl's corporate fluff piece on 60 Minutes |
|
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x754634This report was nothing more than a propaganda piece sympathetic to the big corporations who are hoarding their money. In 2005, there was a one time corporate tax amnesty, and guess what? Very few jobs were created. 11. It isn't really 60 Minutes anymore. More like ET. |
|
Usually human interest stories and fluff pieces like Stahl's. Gone are the days when Morely would show up at a corporate crook's door with a camera crew and microphone. Journalism is dead.

3. Yes, he did. He made it clear that no matter how much the taxes come down, |
|
they WILL find a loophole and some other place to go. That they are responsible to shareholders and that is ALL.
Seriously, we could lower the tax rate to ZERO and that would not bring US corporations home because than they would still be begging at the public trough for fucking rebates from the US government.
The fact of the matter is that while these corporations SHOULD pay (I agree with Bernie Sanders), they won't pay. We have to get our taxes from them in some other way.

8. Maybe they don't know about "Compassionate Capitalism" yet!! |
|
If only someone would tell them, I'm sure they would immediately start acting more compassionately.
It's just a matter of educating yourself and discovering personal growth parameters, blah, blah.
They probably just never saw it as a viable option!

embarrassed to be an American business person. After seeing him I watched ABC's Secret Millionaire. The contrast was startling.

6. Would It Have Killed Leslie Stahl and the 60 Minutes Producer to Remind That Prick CEO |
|
that those other developed nations DON'T SPEND $700 BILLION A YEAR ON DEFENSE. Also, those other developed nations have SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE WHICH CONTROL COSTS, ESP. ON PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.
THAT'S WHY THEY CAN OFFER LOW CORPORATE TAX RATES!!!!!!!!

Let them continue to play these tax games under the radar? Maybe a couple more lights were turned on tonight.

we can't blame them for going to overseas tax havens. We have done this, it is all our fault. :sarcasm:

Didn't catch the show, but sorry to hear they felt that the corporate side of the story was not being told when that is what has filled our major media 80% of the time.
