We must Overthrow Capitalism and Stop Socialism. I love DU |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-27-11 08:49 PM by Armstead
Sure is entertaining here at the moment with all these Popcorn fests about Capitalism vs. Socialism.
It is certainly promoting some lively exchanges.
Me? I think we should bring back Feudalism. Life was simpler when the common people lived in mud huts and didn't have to think about anything more than raising enough food to feed the family and ensure the Lord of the Manor got his share....None of this messy democracy stuff.

13. I just hope some day we drop these foolish isms. |
|
And set about to consciously design a system that works and is based on sound and scientific principles....instead of being herded into some ism that winds up being just another oppressive system. You would think by now we would have caught on.

I think a reasonable argument could be made that we ARE heading for a neo-feudal style setup. A few rich "lords" and the poor, groveling masses. No more middle-class, just the rich power elite and... all the rest of us peons begging for scraps.

26. It's not even intelligent selfish-ism, that's the thing. |
|
I mean, a Single Payer Health Care system makes the most sense for EVERYONE- financially- unless you're a for-profit insurance company. Having infrastructure fall apart, bridges collapse, poisoned air, water, and food, and kids playing with lead painted toys doesn't "benefit" ANYONE.
And your average Ayn Rand goober isn't a billionaire.... It makes no sense, it hasn't been thought through properly~ It's a fucking idiotic worldview, but for some reason it sounds good to people who are convinced that "they" are constantly coming to "take my stuff".

The Achieving Elite (however that is determined) are much better than the rabble and deserve everything.
Democracy is shit."

34. People get into all sorts of trouble when they start confusing the ideas in their head with reality. |
|
I mean, in reality you're never going to have a "perfect" system, the most collectivist, communistic society on Earth is still going to contain bits of private property and free enterprise, and conversely, there is absolutely no way you could have a functional society containing more than 2 people that didn't have SOME sort of collective social contract above and beyond "every man for himself".
The problem is, people get so fucking hung up on being sure they've found THE ONE RIGHT WAY TO DO THINGS that they forget that, to function in the real world, we have to adapt and change and fit our Euclidian, linear shaped dogmas, ideas, and thought-forms to the jagged, craggy, chaotic fractal landscape that is actual reality.
Most importantly, don't go to a restaurant and try to eat the menu-- don't confuse the map with the territory.
