Today’s Republican Party is our deadly enemy. They don’t care if we live or die.
Edited on Mon Dec-27-10 11:53 AM by Cyrano
There were periods in the 20th century during which a degree of sanity existed in the Republican Party. Many of us disagreed vigorously with their positions on a variety of issues, but compromises were reached and the normal give and take of government existed.

That has changed. The too brief lame-duck session of congress, in which the Dems (temporarily) found their cajones, is over. The new Republican controlled House, which will take over in about two weeks, will be the start of total political warfare. And it’s going to get really ugly.

How ugly? Control of the House of Representatives means the Republicans can conduct “investigations” into anything they want to. Did Obama jaywalk during the last two years? Did he walk on grass where there was a sign saying “Don’t walk on the grass?” Did he tear the “Do Not Remove” label off a mattress?

Not to mention that the entire Republican establishment is bought, paid for and owned by our modern day Robber Barons – people who couldn’t care less about the rest of us, our well being, or our country. They’re already concentrating on the emerging markets of India and China - the two most populous countries in the world. Their only interest in us is to steal the very few dollars we have left. (If you don't yet understand, they want it all.) And the Republican Party will aid and abet them every step of the way.

And we know that far too many people will put up with this crap because the sum total of their knowledge consists of what they hear from Fox “News” and Rush Limbaugh.

We know what we’re about to face over the next two years. But here are the critical questions. What are we going to do about it? Are we going to fight back? Will Obama get out in front and lead as he did during the lame duck session? I certainly hope so. But I’d like to hear what you think.

Today's Democratic party doesn't really care whether we live or die either.

18. Hmmm.....
Edited on Mon Dec-27-10 12:46 PM by Autumn Colors
The Democrat party has become the Conservative Party and the Republican Party is becoming the Fascist Party and quite frankly neither of these are worth voting for.

"Democrat" party??? Hmmm.... seems I've heard a certain group of people use the word Democrat, when it should be "Democratic" before .... from this other website ... what was that site again???

If the only reason you have to support Democrats is "they're not Republicans", you shouldn't vote.

Gee, thank you so much for registering on DU just to encourage us not to vote.

That is your point, right?

NOTE: While I do agree with your sentiment that both parties are beholden to corporations and banks and "We, the People" are getting the shaft, I'm sorry, but because of the above highlighted parts of your post and your low post count, I must question your motive...

EDIT: Wow, that sure was quick and I didn't even report the post. Thanks, mods!

2. It is going to be a very bad two years. Obama will lunge back to his home on the right, using
the excuse that he has to work with the enemy across the aisle.

Of course, he does not consider them the enemy. He saves that designation for liberals.

Gridlock is the best we can hope for, but I fear it is not what we are going to get.

I'm all for them telling us what they would prefer, till doomsday. When they tell us what will be, I will sink into depression, not until.

6. Bullshit, thank them, for helping find our guts. And soon.
We were branded as gutless, by them. And now, we seem to be stockholm victims. Only when they cranked/crank up their threats of using all those guns they stockpiled, and sending all of us not rich to the debtors prison will we rediscover our past. We have all the numbers. We have all the real fortitude. We have all we need to send them packing.

I for one, am ready to fight. With my fists, against their bazookas if need be. How bout you? The American people are stupid, but any observer of Greek tragedy knows, you cant screw a Zeus forever. Just wait till they wnat Obama to show his peepee too, and watch the fireworks. Get mean, and wait till we give the signal. This will not end well for Rethugs. AND SOON.

19. Yup!
It's only a matter of time. The Republicans still believe they have a mandate from Juniors years. If they decide to go down he path of investigations I think they will have over played their hand. They are just too stupid to realize it.

7. Of course we will fight back. I don't like
to give the Repulsive Party any leeway. They can paint themselves into a corner with the propaganda we have heard from them. Any day now they will begin to stick their chins out ala Mussolini and we will handle that with a left hook.

9. Repukelican Pary/Tea bagger movement...
are a terrorist organization.

After going through the German History Museum in Berlin the other day, I can most definitly see the similarities of how and why the Nazi party came to be and the Tea Bagger movement. However, what the Repukes/baggers lack is a charismatic leader; there is not a single person in there ranks with the ability to move masses of people to their agenda. The brown shirts they are, causing grief and spouting off falshoods(lying)with flare.

it's not about left or right...its about up & down...super wealthy vs the rest of us.

Left/right is merely a distraction.

11. The only thing I don't get....
.... is why you think the Dems are any better? Because they are willing to extend UE for a few more months? The Dems are just as involved with the bankster control of our country as the Repugs are.

And rather than fix this bullshit with the reinstatement of Glass-Stegall type rules, we get a byzantine set of bullshit reforms that will accomplish NOTHING.

The banking system is still ripping me and millions of other Americans off for thousands of dollars a year with their ZIRP, which is nothing but an orchestrated ripoff of the public for the bankers. What have Dems done about it? Nothing.

15. Our choices are limited.
It seems to me that the Dems are not quite as bad as the Republicans. There are still sane Democrats holding office.

In an all out political "war" against the Republican Party, we're going to need a base with which to start fighting back. And like it or not, the current Democratic Party is, IMO, the only feasible base we currently have.

Starting from zero is not viable. Starting by pressuring the Democratic Party into becoming what they once were might be doable (maybe). Perhaps I'm living in some fantasy land with this concept, however, "taking to the streets" will get us nowhere. What do you think Blackwater (now Xe) has been preparing themselves for all these years? And there are many more organizations like them.

I really believe that our best chance is to push/pull/force the Democratic Party to remember their roots and return to them. If I'm wrong, then we're even more screwed than we think we are.

17. Well..
.. I would agree that in terms of changing things we'd probably have a better chance with the Dems. But I'm pretty pessimistic about it at this point.

I actually believed that Obama would bring SOME changes and his performance has left me about as disillusioned with politics as a person can get.

As it stands, I believe that as a country we will have to "hit rock bottom" before people will finally abandon their complacency (we can blame the politicians but what are we really doing about it? not much) and demand change.

We a few years away from that point IMHO.
