7. It can't be clear and
concise if he forgets about all the other parts of the world where they need our help more than they do in Libya.

8. So, rather than avert the massacre of an entire city (Benghazi), you would
have us in more conflicts where the people aren't calling for help because they're about to be slaughtered?

Those people in Yemen and Syria are, for now, holding their own.

10. The people in Libya were holding their own. But if we really cared about the world
then we would be intervening in the Ivory Coast right now - you know, a place where people are actually getting slaughtered.

9. Do you want him to do everything or nothing?...
Edited on Mon Mar-28-11 07:00 PM by SidDithers
Do you want US assets in Yemen, Syria and "other countries" or do you not want US assets used in Libya?

Edit: just trying to figure out where you're coming from.

Sid

It's nice to see a fellow sane Democrat on here who knows that military action is sometimes necessary.

14. No, I didn't. The President laid out exactly how we go to where we are,
which is the part of his speech I was applauding him on. He did exactly what he said he was going to do and he was being pressured hard to do it. And he has now done exactly what he was called on the carpet to do and that was to explain our involvement. And, even if I don't agree with military action, I can credit the President for doing what he thought was best because, after all, I did help get him elected.

you going hiking in the forest looking for technicolor raccoon excreta? You're gonna be disappointed, 'cause it just isn't happening.

Extend the old wars, start a new one, ignore the atrocities in one area and bomb some people in another for similar atrocities. Somehow, I just cannot smile and say with adulation in my voice "Gee, it's all good."

I keep remembering words suggesting the US would leave the -stan suffixed countries (troops are still there), Guantanamo would be closed (it isn't), but I don't remember words promising to fling missiles at a whole new target.

People in the US are asking the US for help, and being ignored. Some cannot pay for medication, or medical treatment. Some have lost jobs, and have not found new ones for many, many months. Others have lost their homes. Shelters for the homeless are filled to capacity because folks have lost those jobs and homes. Children go to bed hungry at night, and if not for meals at school would not eat in the daytime (what DO they do on weekends and school holidays you might ask.) Bridges, roads, water systems are in a state of disrepair.

We are told there is no money to correct any of this - BUT, money is somehow found to shoot missiles into people's homes. Money is somehow found to send to people in other countries who suffer from natural disasters, while ignoring the plight of those at home.

This hopey - changey stuff that I was hoping for is about due to begin. Don't you think?

You weren't really serious, were you?
