Donald Trump releases his birth certificate. Turns out it's not the official one

Hmmmm....what's The Donald hiding giving us some fake Birth Certificate. Maybe he wasn't born in Jamaica NY, maybe in Jamaica the country.

Donald Trump made headlines earlier today when he provided what he said was a copy of his birth certificate -- but a quick check reveals it's actually not an official document.

The paper that Trump released says "Jamaica Hospital" on top and lists the date and time of what he says was his birth to "Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Trump." The piece of paper has a seal at the bottom.

But after several New York City-based readers contacted POLITICO's Maggie Haberman, her call to city officials revealed that an actual birth certificate, which is issued by the Department of Health, would have the agency's seal and also a signature of the city registrar - neither of which the Trump document has. Officials said the city Health Department is the "sole issuing authority" of official birth certificates in New York, and that the document would clearly say so, and "city officials said it's not an official document."

It appears instead to be a hospital "certificate of birth," meaning the piece of paper the hospital gave to his family saying he was born. Such a document typically has the signature of the hospital administrator and the attending physician.

P.T. Barnum like, watch him let this simmer for about a week then come out saying that the "liberal media" spent more time investigating his birth certificate than Obama's and order the release of the correct one.

here in MO we HAVE to have a birth certificate to get a drivers license (yes, an official one, not the cutesy on the hospitals hand out).
And it seems to me I had to have my kids official birth certificate for one thing or another (a passport, registering for school).
SO is it just rich folks like Trump and Obama (yes, I see Obama as a rich guy, just a little nicer and smarter than most of them!)who can just go about without having an official birth certificate? I don't get it.

(I would like to tell the story here of how my husband had to renew his DL and had lost his birth certificate, so he had to go to the Dept. of Health and show his DL, so he could get his BC to show the DMV to get his license!)

I guess I don't understand your point.

A lot of people are under the impression that hospital commemorative souvenirs are "birth certificates". Given that Mr. Trump and Mr. Obama likely applied for driver's licenses and passports as teenagers, and renewals generally don't require birth certificates, I doubt they keep them handy.

I don't remember getting one back from either process, but when I need one, I get one. Isn't that what everyone does?

Obama has released his official birth certificate. His birth announcement was published in 2 papers and even the doctor remembers deliverying him that day.

Because these teabagger birthers are so crazy a black man is president, they are insisting on seeing a document that is NOT required to prove your birth here in America.

Obama is not trying any trickery, he just isn't going to stoop himself down to the level of these idiots.
