Fitzwalkerstan - I no longer reside in the United States of America...

by Kodiak54

The DOA has now suspended the first amendment rights of all Wisconsinites Fitzwalkerstanians. How you ask?

Well, it is really quite simple, if you are not on the ground floor of the Capitol Rotunda you cannot speak or hold a sign anywhere else in the Capitol. As a matter of fact, on Saturday two pre-teen boys were fined $205.50 for holding a banner over the rail on the first floor of the rotunda. It was not taped up, it was not causing any damage to the building...they were just holding it. Don't believe me, here is the video...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZmUR4gj9Ww&feature=player_embedded

..............................

Mr. Huebsch the head of the DOA would do well by studying the history of the State Capitol. On the floor where the young men received a fine for exercising their first amendment rights are four diamonds; one at four equidistant points around the rail around the rotunda. Those diamonds mark the four spots on that floor where the acoustics are perfect and one can orate and be heard throughout the Capitol building. That was the intent of architects of the Wisconsin Fitzwalkerstan State Capitol. To make it the peoples house, where the people truly had a voice.

At some point over the last couple of months the State of Wisconsin has ceased to exist. At some point, we have withdrawn from the union and have become the Republic of Fitzwalkerstan, a place where the rule of law only applies if you are in power and only what you want to apply to. A place where the U.S. Constitution no longer applies.

2. Sounds a lot like a call for revolution
But how do you go about overthrowing a governor?

I'm not asking seriously -- I don't think -- but there's a significant constitutional problem brewing here.

If a state government commits abuses of authority in defiance of the laws. If the governor and legislators are in it together so there's no chance of impeachment. If recall is a complex legal process that at best is a year off (and isn't even available in some states.) And if there appears to be significant likelihood of permanent harm if this illegal government continues to operate unchecked.

Just what do you do? What recourse is available within the framework of state and federal laws?

4. Hey there!
:hi:

Overthrowing a governor? We have to wait until he's been in office for a year - then he'll be recalled the hell out of here. You're right that impeachment won't happen. Yes, there will be permanent harm to people and our environment in the meantime. But we've survived these people before (eg, McCarthy), and we will again. With the State Senate recalls underway, if everything goes right, then we will re-take the Senate by mid-July or so.

RE the tickets for protesting on the "wrong floor" of the rotunda - as of a few hours ago, there had been 17 tickets issued (some people have received multiple tickets). Conveniently enough, they all have the same court date and time! April 8 10:00 am.

PARTY AT THE COURTHOUSE!!!

(sorry if I'm not as chatty as normal - I'm pretty wiped out! This can start to wear on a person)

10. Simple solution - though it involves the Gov's backers as
Well as those in office. And since food prices are shooting skyward, it may actually become a necessity:

EAT THE RICH!

Those of the Ultra Rich are undoubtably rather tough and stringy, but braising in beer should help soften the meat!

3. Those kids rock, the older boy seemed to understand more what he was doing.
Really cool of them to do it, I hope they weren't prompted by their parents to do it.

5. the kids had been at a leadership conference
the previous weekend. They also had seen Jeremy Ryan's videos online
www.defendingwisconsin.org and told their parents that they wanted to hold a sign up there. They made their own sign (though had to check with their mom on the spelling of "Solidarity") and their parents were very supportive of whatever decision the kids made as to whether or not they wanted to comply with the officer's request to move down to the ground level.

By the way, with the "rules" always changing, we were there for over six hours today, with several big signs in the exact same location. A few conversations with officers, mostly about the weather, etc., but no tickets!

11. Yuck
You're a lot braver than I am. I stick to the friendly territory where I only have cops fed up with me. Taking on the teabaggers is a much scarier proposition altogether! :scared:

Thanks for your bravery and for working for Kloppenburg. Your reward will be a big party beginning just after 8:00 pm on the 5th of April! Oh, and a much, much better State Supreme Court! :D
