Fighting a phantom enemy on behalf of a thoroughly corrupt Afghan government, while simultaneously making a few US defense contractors filthy rich?
Who knew?

14. Nah, I'm saying even the most "progressive' Democrat |
|
would have jumped in waving both tanks.
On this score, Obama is a moderate.

|
He's keeping us in Afghanistan. Not Edwards or even Bush.

21. Edwards was not the 'most progressive democrat' |
|
Not by a long shot. For one thing, no real progressive democrat voted for the war in Iraq.
The main reason he was never on my list of candidates to support. Hillary and Edwards voted for the war. I supported Obama because he did not and spoke out against it. However I now know that had he been a Senator at the time, he would have voted for it.

|
definitely have voted 'yes'. But back then, I did not know that much about him and believed he meant what he said about that war.

I have no idea what you are on about. Scream loudly and carry a small stick was JRE's style. Plus, he would never have chose Clinton as he SoS. So tell me.

10. No matter how high-flying his rhetoric (which never matched his voting record) |
|
he proved himself no better than Newt Gingrich, who infamously served divorce papers to his first wife while she was in a hospital bed with cancer.
Cheating is bad enough; this isn't just about cheating. This is about the worst possible kind of abandonment. A person with a very difficult and scary medical diagnosis needs to know that HER or HIS life partner will be there. If that partner fails to be there, that contributes to the stress in a big way, and makes recovery much more difficult and unlikely. We'll never know for sure if Elizabeth would have had a better chance of recovering if not for John's selfish bullshit...but it IS a possibility. What we do know is that he wasn't fully there for her when she needed him most.
I don't give a shit about people's sex lives. I DO give a shit about compassion and empathy, and JRE's actions towards the woman he allegedly loved proved that all his speeches about those qualities were completely empty. If he could be that callous towards his own wife and the mother of his children, how could I ever again believe that he would care about ME?

20. Singing Off: Clinton, Edwards, Obama? |
|
Who was (is) most likely to go for Regime Change?
Boots on the ground?
Maybe not Clinton, if she took a Call from Wesley Clark.
Democrats (WWI/WWII/Greece/Turkey/Korea/Vietnam/Afghanistan/Bosnia/Kosovo)
Don't kid yourselves.

30. The guy who co-sponsored the Iraq War Resolution? No thanks. |
|
Edwards was as phony as a three-dollar bill. Voted like a centrist, then apologized for his entire voting record once he left the Senate and presented himself as some kind of populist liberal.
And that's not even counting his personal life, where he proved himself to be a complete sleazebag in every way.
Reille, is that you?

Iasdjrocky said this:
"He's a snake oil salesman!" Yeah, I hear 'em yelling. Well, I gotta tell ya. I've spent better than three decades now out on my own in this big bad world, and I think by now, I've figured out when someones selling snake oil, and when someone is speaking truth. I've worked in the music industry, the night club industry, the radio industry, for-crying-out-loud, I've worked in the entertainment industry all of my life. This is a place where someone gets a nose for bullshit. Don't try to sell me buddy.
I replied
Being a good trial attorney is like an actor: it's a role. You immerse yourself it the details, get every point straightened, psyche yourself up and go out to convince the judge and jury. that you are not only right but flying on the wings of justice. Then it's onto the next case Consistency, case by case, does not concern a trial attorney, only working on those people to get them to agree with you. It's a reasonable background for a politician if you don't mind periodic tunnel vision.
I would now add, It's quite dangerous if you don't have any core beliefs or principles.

37. Edwards is this guy who stood up and slandered gay people |
|
on the basis of his 'traditional Baptist view' of marriage, while he himself was having an affair and lying about it. He went on and on about his deacon Daddy and how 'one man, one woman' is 'just a part of me'. At the time, he had two women per man as his own deal. A hypocrite and an unrepentant lying slander merchant. He used good people as a smoke screen for his own lies. Few things are that despicable. A scoundrel, cheat, liar, exploiter of good will, bearer of false witness. All this time and Johnny the Baptist has yet to speak a word of apology or truth after his many months of telling unscrupulous lies to serve himself while doing great harm to a community seeking equal rights. He's not forgiven because he has not even bothered to mention what he said and did, much less make amends for it. And this is not about his 'personal life' by the way, but about his public speeches filled with lies about his fictional account of his personal life. All of this was shit he did on stage, on TV, on the radio, and in no way was it private or personal. He went after us in public.
