"President Obama is fewer than three weeks away from formally announcing his reelection campaign, and will make it public with an online video his aides will post on his new campaign website, Democratic sources familiar with the plans said.

Obama’s team will try to keep the exact date and time a surprise, letting supporters know first by text message and e-mail. By that point, Obama would have opened his campaign account with the Federal Election Commission.

But a major Democratic National Committee fundraiser is set for April 14 in Chicago, and Democratic donors are being told that it will coincide with the announcement. Obama will attend the event."

1. What on earth could he possibly...

...do to get re-elected?

His one and only good theme is "the Republicans are worse", and now I'm not too sure about that.

All the good he has done (yes, I recognize it) has been diluted at best, more likely emasculated. He has moved so far right since the '08 election season I don't even recognize the man.

2. Fortunately for Obama, his Democratic approval beats every president in the last 50 years

save JFK by a slight amount.

3. And the only possible reason for that has to be....

...that Dems approve of his performance.

Or, they don't want the right to have more ammo by being honest in answering questions.


Or the polls are rigged.


Or whatever. I'm not buying it.

6. Maybe when your assumptions imply that all the polls are rigged, it is time to re-examine

your assumptions.

8. Polls that merely ask approval of a known person are generally pretty accurate.

They can vary slightly depending on question order and wording, but in this case all polls (media, partisan, non-partisan, often by firms with good track records at predicting election results) have Obama's Democratic approval in the stratosphere.

Perhaps the real explanation is that very few Democrats agree with you. I know that might be shocking to some, but it is much more likely than a global poll conspiracy.

10. Well, you raise some interesting issues...

...how many on the "left" are registered Democrats? Perhaps only a small portion of those that voted for BHO in '08 are registered Dems?

That would explain why the hundreds (yes, hundreds) of protesters I spoke with in Madison over the past month - all of them - are VERY DOWN on the performance of BHO, while registered Dems score him higher. Those protesters are apparently not registered Dems.

4. K&R- Obama IS popular with the vast majority of registered Democratic voters...

and I suspect his record will appeal to the swing voters and the remining republicans not happy with the anti-American rightist extremists
AKA the teaparty. The self identified far left-us- who feel Obama has been more republican than Democratic are in the small minority and most of us would vote for him anyway.

The GOP in power has started to damage itself as it did after Bush I.
