"The Bankers Manifesto of 1892"
"The Bankers Manifesto of 1892"

(Revealed by US Congressman Charles A. Lindbergh, Sr. from Minnesota
before the US Congress sometime during his term of office between the
years of 1907 and 1917 to warn the citizens.)

""We (the bankers) must proceed with caution and guard every move made,
for the lower order of people are already showing signs of restless
commotion . Prudence will therefore show a policy of
apparently yielding to the popular will until our plans are so far
consummated that we can declare our designs without fear of any organized
resistance . The Farmers Alliance and Knights of Labor
organizations in the United States should be carefully watched by our
trusted men, and we must take immediate steps to control these
organizations in our interest or disrupt them.

At the coming Omaha Convention to be held July 4th (1892), our men must
attend and direct its movement, or else there will be set on foot such
antagonism to our designs as may require force to overcome. This at the
present time would be premature. We are not yet ready for such a crisis.
Capital must protect itself in every possible manner through combination
(conspiracy) and legislation.

The courts must be called to our aid, debts must be collected, bonds and
mortgages foreclosed as rapidly as possible.

When through the process of the law, the common people have lost their
homes, they will be more tractable and easily governed through the
influence of the strong arm of the government applied to a central power
of imperial wealth under the control of the leading financiers. People
without homes will not quarrel with their leaders.

History repeats itself in regular cycles. This truth is well known among
our principal men who are engaged in forming an imperialism of the world
. While they are doing this, the people
must be kept in a state of political antagonism.

The question of tariff reform must be urged through the organization known
as the Democratic Party, and the question of protection with the
reciprocity must be forced to view through the Republican Party.

By thus dividing voters, we can get them to expand their energies in
fighting over questions of no importance to us, except as teachers to the
common herd. Thus, by discrete action, we can secure all that has been so
generously planned and successfully accomplished."

2. Seems like a bogus document to me
I'm not done searching for information about this, but apart from the ludicrous way this is written, I haven't found any solid confirmation of the document's validity yet.

That this was presented to Congress doesn't seem as doubtful as the authenticity of the document itself.

3. Yes, it has a peculiar odor.
Have a look at the link--I'm not sure exactly where they're coming from, but I'm getting an odd feeling about survivalism, right-wing fundamentalism & a few other similar elements. Please get back to us on what you find.

And most certainly the wording of the document has a bogus feel.

9. You can certainly find it posted all over the place
That's what's slowing me down -- plenty of repetition getting in the way of finding anything that discusses the validity or background story of this alleged document.

It hasn't been discussed on snopes.com yet, but I'm going to post on their message board and see what comes up.

My big problem with this supposed manifesto is that I can't imagine any real bankers ever writing anything like this. Some real bankers may share many of the sentiments, and even some of the designs, expressed, but even if what is written represents their real thinking, it's extremely unlikely to have been written this way. The style is about as authentic as a mustache-twirling villain revealing his Evil Plan to the Hero just before, to his surprise, failing to kill said Hero.

14. Yes, exactly.
Evil intentions are always couched in righteous-sounding language. One need only have another look at that 1998 PNAC letter for a classic example.

That was exactly what I was referring to in questioning its authenticity.

5. If this turns out to be the case, my apologies.
I just saw it posted elsewhere, and thought I'd post it here for obvious reasons.
I did not research it yet, as I am about to be out the door.

19. What are the "obvious reasons"?
Wouldn't it have made more sense to fact-check it BEFORE posting it?

7. Do a google search.
Nothing on Wikipedia.

The websites that do cite this "document" have the aura of conspiracy and nonreferenceable.

6. Not buying
This has already shown up here anyway:

Google it and you'll find a never-ending list of conspiracy sites pushing this. You'd get the impression that the world already ended due to a Jewish Anti-Christ from some of them.

13. Absolute nonsense...
the "federal observer" cannot cite when Lindbergh supposedly "revealed it" other than a ten-year window?

Why don't people fact-check stuff like this before posting?

15. Obvious propaganda piece, aimed at stirring up fear of Jewish bankers
Charles Lindbergh Sr. was an isolationist who opposed U.S. involvement in WWI. His son was a Nazi sympathizer.

On the other hand, there is a kernel of truth in this - most propaganda has a kernel of truth, that's why Rush Limbaugh is so successful. This propaganda piece describes behavior that people in authority have been using for thousands of years to hold onto power. Infiltrate and control your enemies and encourage resentment and conflict among those you control, so as to consolidate power and keep the people being controlled distracted and divided.

The purpose of this propaganda piece, for instance, was to stir up resentment and fear toward minority groups - Jewish people and immigrants - while protecting the power that was controlled at that time by huge corporations. Look over there at the bankers! never mind what we Rockefellers, Carnegies, and Vanderbilts are doing over here.

It was a common belief that "Bankers = Jews", which the REAL barons of power did nothing to dissuade.

20. This document may or may not be real
But it is a good time to brush up on the history of the 1890's because we seem to be headed back there as all the progress since then is being dismantled.

22. You're right
I have only heard about this document here and have no opinion about it except that it is insignificant, real or not. I'm more interested in the learned and unlearned lessons of the time period in question.
