Do you believe any US military personnel should ever be under the command of an Officer
From another country? A NATO officer or a UN assignment? Or should America always be on it's own when it comes to warfare? Basically should the world form a world wide Military/Police force to do jobs such as the current crisis in Libya or other hot spots through out the world with soldiers/police made up from every country? Or should the US just continue being the Police Force/enforcer for the world?

1. I have no problem with the US military serving under an officer of one of our alliances. I also
thought their was a world-wide group: UN forces.

2. All officers are regulated under operating procedures.
If they are under a NATO officer, they are not really under an officer from another country because they aren't really in their command structure anymore.

3. Such as Lafeyette?
History is full of cases where units have been placed under the tactical control of someone not normally in their chain of command. Doesn't make a unit any less US when the Commander in Chief places a Unit/Ship under the tactical control of a foreign/allied officer.

5. We are part of NATO. Our military personnel often operate
under the command of officers from other countries. It's the nature of the alliance.

7. It is only our own arrogance that makes us, U.S. want to be in charge and go our own way.

8. They Should Be Able To Disobey
For me the real issue is whether any US military personnel should be able to disobey any order, regardless of whether it is given by an American or the national of another country.

I think any member of the US military should have the absolute right to disobey any order that he or she feels is illegal or immoral.

9. I am fine with it as long as laws and treaties are complied with.
We are still a nation of laws. Unless the USSC has ruled such to be unconstitutional, it works for me.

10. Only if it is within a congressionally declared war, with official allies.
I am absolutely against the UN having a standing army of its own. Eventually, it would be turned against us.

11.  Black soldiers from the US Army fought under French command during WWI
The all-black 93rd division, a rag-tag outfit that was initially issued Civil War uniforms, were assigned to French command by General John Pershing during WWI. The French desperately needed fresh troops and Pershing was able to satisfy France's needs by getting rid of his command's headache - black soldiers.

The 93d Division turned in their American equipment and were issued French rifles, bayonets, helmets, packs, and other equipment of the French soldier. They were then organized, trained, and commanded as a French unit, the first unit in US history to serve under foreign command.

The 93nd division fought as part of the French army, where, ironically, it found acceptance, respect, and glory, eventually winning the Croix de Guerre, only to return to America and find Jim Crow laws alive and well.

The Adrian helmet, the helmet of the French Army, became the 93rd division's WWII insignia
