New poll finds Rick Scott "incredibly unpopular"
New poll finds Rick Scott "incredibly unpopular"
PolitiJax, Florida Times-Union political blog, 3/29/11

A new poll finds Gov. Rick Scott "incredibly unpopular" among Floridians. More unpopular, in fact, that his embattled GOP counterparts in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio.

Only 32 percent of Floridians approve of the job Scott is doing, according to a poll released today by Public Policy Polling, a traditional Democratic polling firm that operates in battleground states. That approval rating represents a drop of one percent from a poll PPP conducted in December before Scott took office. In all, 55 percent of the state's voters are unhappy with his performance. The poll also found if voters were given another round at last November's election, the results might look much different.

“Rick Scott was elected by the thinnest of margins in one of the best Republican election years ever,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling in a statement released with the results. “Since then he hasn’t done much to win over either the folks who didn’t vote for him or the folks who supported him because he was a Republican despite having some reservations about him personally.”

1. I'm not surprised - last week I came across quite a few Republicans in Florida...
...who said they weren't crazy enough to vote for that criminal.

5. Not that he cares...
Not that Scott cares about poll ratings. He had to have known his actions would be unpopular. His mission is to eradicate as quickly as possible as many Florida public services as possible, sink unions and any political strength they once enjoyed, make voting difficult for typically Democratic leaning groups, and privatize, privatize, privatize. He can't be anticipating two terms. Even if there's a recall, the damage will have been done and Florida will have already been picked over by corporate profiteers.

6. Exactly!
And I don't see this unpopularity changing anything anytime. Florida like Texas, and Mississippi is already die-in-the-wool right-wing rethuglican and is unlikely to vote democratic even with this anyway!

12. And with that graphic in mind
Which party dominates Florida? Of course the rethuglican party. I think that graphic is totally flawed. It should show rethugs with 41% instead of democrats. Democrats, rethugs and none will have to switch places with rethugs at the top, followed by none, then democrats - IMO and considering how dominant the rethugs are in the state.

23. Yeah, They didn't vote!
This horror we have been witnessing is because Obama didn't give Dems what they wanted and just stayed home. Bad idea !

Of course the fact that Rethugs lied and promised jobs and fox "news
was and is a 24/7 propaganda spinning machine and they had citizens United and KOCH bothers money all helped to win the election.

7. He doesn't care, because the risks are worth taking. He and his cronies will be SET
financially and in power for decades to come because of the ruinous plans he has for this state.

Scott has never been one to care about anything except $$$ and power.

That's it.

9. 32% is the magic number of the nut case GOP base.
Whenever you see that number you know who and what that represents. +- 5%

26. Read John Dean's book "Conservatives Without a Conscience".
Dean's book is well researched, 25-30 % of the population fit well into the authoritarian conservative camp. 10% sounds about right for some approval of Dick Cheney and Adolph Hitler.

10. And as long as they keep decimating the FL education system, idiots like Scott will continue to be
elected.

Our corporate masters have a stake in an uneducated, uninformed population. When we sit idly by while our social systems are dismantled, we do nothing but aid in our own destruction.

14. They would abolish all public education if they thought they could. They just chip away
instead. An ignorant, out-of-work, desperate public makes a nice cheap labor pool and you don't have to spend as much for propaganda to be effective.

How the heck did this guy get elected? I don't see a single necessary quality for leadership that would appeal to any voter!

20. Outspent his opponent 8-1 and only won by about two points
in one of the best elections for Republicans in history.

It was heart-breakingly close.

22. Doubt he cares... he isn't in it to be relected...
just wants to greatly increase his wealth - or so would suggest his political moves so far. The moves are greatly disapproved of by the voting public (suggests: who cares, you can't recall me, and I am not running for reelection!) *and* serve to increase his business interests profits to a great extent.
