I saw my Republican accountant yesterday
when I brought in my tax data.

He probably saw my little red-fist Solidarity button because the first thing out of the box was his comment about how awful Walker was. He added, "Well, at least I don't have to apologize for voting for Obama." I acknowledged some disappointment with our President & asked him if he would actually sign recall papers when they come around next year, and he was pretty firm in saying he would.

My accountant, like a whole lot of small-business Republicans, is just a low-tax, mad-at-the welfare-bums guy, not a drooling fundie wingnut. Basically, the the kind of person who formed the backbone of the old Wisconsin Republican Party. When Walker loses those guys, he's pretty much lost the show.

2. Republicans in Wisconsin -
My favorite Wisconsin republican -

.
Robert M. La Follette, Sr.

And I have a feeling the state will be returning to the kind of progressiveness that he made famous. Walker's on his way out.

11. There are Moderate Republicans who aren't at all douchey.
If you can believe that. I am friends with some of them. I don't have any choice. I'd have no friends. I live in Oklahoma.

4. I wish I could say that about the Republicans in my area.
I wonder if this accountant understand that Doyle left Walker a surplus, and within his first two months Walker spent it on tax breaks for his buddies....

5. Yeah, they lost my low-tax, mad-at-the-welfare-bums dad in 2004
It was his last vote, but it was for Kerry.

I think they've been steadily losing the backbone of the party for a very long time. That's the main reason the RNC is so deeply in debt.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the billionaires make up the shortfall in 2012. I'm guessing they won't. The party has just gotten too radical for most of the traditional members.

6. Where I work (at a school) all of the folks I KNOW to be repubs
have been VERY quiet around me, even, I think, going out of their way to be 'invisible'. GOOD! You people voted this a**hat in, YOU OWN IT.

These 'old timie' Republicans have been so used. Do you think they are waking up to that fact? I hope, like your accountant, that they are.

8. My wife can't quite let go of the GOP yet
Every time she quotes some outrage about a Democrat, I know she got it from Fox News, and I do a quick Google search, and show her that she has been misinformed.

She hated Olbermann, but seems to be able to stay in the room while Maddow is on. I dearly love Rachel Maddow, and I sit quietly, and let my wife absorb what she's saying. I want to say "See! This is what I'm talking about!", but I don't. I just let it sink in... little by little, what's really happening. I broke silence once, and asked if she's paying attention to what's going on, and whether she sees, or condones this GOP scorched earth policy. She had to agree that they are out of control. She's a school board employee, by the way.

Lately, she's hardly said a word about politics (out of character for her).

Also about Maddow: Her coverage of Japan was awesome. She approached it with intelligence and sensitivity, while Limbaugh and Beck railed about payback for Pearl Harbor. This did not go unnoticed by my wife.
