Human Rights and Democracy vs. Oil |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-29-11 12:02 PM by WiffenPoof
I have mixed feelings about our involvement in Libya. I thought that the President made a fine speech and explained himself well. However, I cannot help but believe (as many do) that our interests in Libya have more to do with oil than they do with human rights and democracy.
So, just why are we there? In your opinion, do you think oil is the real motivating factor...or is it really a matter of human rights...or both?

1. I support air strikes. I oppose American, or "allied," boots on the ground. |

It must be Libyans who do the liberating.
But consider that if it were actually all about oil, the U.S. would have backed Ghaddafi -- could have written its own ticket on that one.
