'Mad Men' season 5 pushed back to 2012, AMC says

AMC says "Mad Men" is definitely coming back, but the new season won't be on the air until 2012.

The network's announcement on Tuesday came amid reports of ongoing negotiations between Lionsgate, the studio that produces the series, and its creator-executive producer, Matthew Weiner (WY'-nur).

The announcement took note of the delayed start in shooting the new season, which will be the series' fifth. In the past, "Mad Men" has aired in the summer or early fall.

9. a VERY intelligent snapshot of sexism/racism in the workplace

among its many other strengths. The historical verisimilitude is legendary, and they do a good job of capturing in a very vivid, non-cliched way the major changes underway at the time. One of the best television series ever produced.

Typical of AMC. Other than Mad Men I can't watch their damn channel because it seems like 5 minutes of movie alternating with 6 minutes of commercials. A horrible network.

The also own the IFC network -- which still plays some decent movies but also interrupts them with an noying frequency fort endless commerciasl breaks.

If tghey are trying to squeeze their original programming, AMC deserves to lose every bit of goodwill they earned by carrying Mad Men..
