Gov. Scott Walker is asking for federal high speed rail funding, to cover the cost of upgrades to the Amtrak Hiawatha Milwaukee-Chicago line.

Walker says the money would help bring about lower operating expenses and more ticket revenue. It would be used to buy two train sets and eight locomotives, and to build a maintenance facility in Milwaukee.

1. Too late, Scott
Besides, the money is for high speed rail only. You want an earmark for Amtrak funds? Talk to your congressional delegation. That is, if any one of them will talk to you without vomiting on your shoes.

8. there`s no way lahood is going to give him the money from the hsr funds.
he insulted lahood and his boss. lahood maybe a republican but he sure in the hell a isn`t a koch whore.

he could get funds in the future because this line will be rebuilt in illinois and the maintenance facility will be in illinois.

14. Not to mention the general commute from Milw to Madtown.
I know many people that have to make that trip twice a day and they would kill for HSR as an alternative to driving.

12. +1
one of his corporate masters has a plan where 95 percent of the funds vanish, while the last 5 percent is actually spent on the rail line (and when that 5 percent doesn't accomplish anything, Walker and Co. will blame Obama's wasteful spending policies)...

I swear, these days I know exactly what the assclowns will do before they do it...

15. His new budget repair bill did away with
Federal transportation money, so he screwed himself twice on railroads. He shot down the HSR and then put the Fed Trans money in jeopardy - which he had been warned would happen...he's just not too bright.

24. Koch Industries probably decided they needed the rail lines for something.
Isn't Walker planning on selling the outdated power-plants to the Kock Bros for a dollar a piece?
Their underlings have undoubtedly found that they could squeeze more money from the state if they had better rail systems.
Their Igor (Walker) simply screwed up their plans and he is trying to fix it.
Maybe they used the Abby Normal brain when creating Walker and it has finally started to bite them on the ass.

25. Rick must not be trusted to use those funds properly.
Regardless of the law, Rick Scott has shown that he WILL break the law to get his way.
So what does Scott truly want this money for?
