Who's lying ??
Who will be at fault if the government shuts down??
================

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/03/democrats-and-republicans-prep-for-government-shutdown-fallout.php?ref=fpblg

<snip>
"It's never been lost on me that because we only control the House there are a lot of other players that we need to work with in order to come to any agreement to keep the government open," Boehner said. "But I'm confident that we'll be able to find a way to cut spending -- which we believe will lead to a better environment for business to hire people in America -- and keep the government open."

Something changed between then and now. This week, Boehner and House Republicans are drawing thick lines in the sand in budget negotiations with Democrats, and the threat of a shutdown -- something Boehner has insisted he wants to avoid -- has spiked. On Tuesday, principals on both sides spoke as if a shutdown wasn't just inevitable, but imminent. Cue finger-pointing.

Democrats won't be responsible for a shutdown, said House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer. "It's self-evident by the statements of so many Republicans and the votes of 54 people...that voted not to continue government...unless they got what they wanted."

Hoyer was one of several high-profile Democrats to make this case.

"At the end of last week the House Republicans did a strange thing," said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on the Senate floor Tuesday morning. "They pulled back from the talks. They changed their minds about what level of spending cuts they could accept. We were right on the verge of a potential breakthrough and they suddenly moved the goalposts."

3. At the time, everyone assumed Clinton would take the blame, but it fell squarely on Newt's slimy
shoulders. Boehner, when sober, knows he is next. The GOP will get the blame.

5. I hope you're right but there was no fox news in those days
Now there is and they have the liberal media completely whipped.

CNN and pretty much every other TV media outlet takes their cues from what fox says.

6. The media is different today than when Clinton did it
The media has moved so much further right than it was then that no matter what Obama does, the propaganda will blame him.

That is my perception.

4. Sheesh!
"which we believe will lead to a better environment for business to hire people in America -- and keep the government open."

Belief systems are never wrong, ey? Where are the facts? Record profits are not creating jobs, nor are the tax cuts and the fact that a large number of major multinationals pay little or no taxes, or even get refunds.

Heavy taxation of the wealthy and their corporate veils would provide incentives to move their money, invest it and do their best to avoid contributing anything to the overall infrastructure that we provide and that they require and utilize.

We have already seen commentary on what kinds of results these cuts could have and they look devastating, across-the-board. The only better environment for business that I can concede to them is that these austerity moves could push our public programs and commons into the hands of the greedy via privatization. That is something we DO NOT want, and it will bite us in the neck for decades should we go there. It is the end of so much that I won't list it here, but I am sure you can imagine what America Inc. would be like. We can look at other countries that are already ravaged by multinational monoculture locust swarms.

7. Teabaggers made it too hot for the GOP leaders to negotiate.
The teabaggers don't mind, likely want, a government shut-down. Hopefully the GOP will be spanked for that, like they were in the 1990s.

11. Will they get their social security checks?
If not, they might start to think twice.

8. Who's Lying? Is that a trick question?
Are Republicans involved? Have they spoken? Do I get a prize for the right answer?
