By Don Walker of the Journal Sentinel

It cost at least $2.23 million to bring Wisconsin State Patrol officers to the state Capitol to provide security during weeks of protest, bringing the total security bill to nearly $5.5 million.

The costs from the Wisconsin State Patrol include actual costs between Feb. 11 and March 5, as well as estimated costs from March 6 through March 10.

Hundreds of troopers were dispatched to the Capitol during the protests....

The Journal Sentinel reviewed hundreds of pages of invoices submitted by nearly 150 different law enforcement agencies. In many cases, departments claimed overtime costs for their officers, with overtime pay rates ranging from as low as $30 an hour to as high as $60 an hour or more.

1. I'm not sure what you're getting at...
...sure if the repubs didn't try to pass this legislation they wouldn't have had to call in the state police but...

2. I am not getting at anything - just thought it was good to see what Walker has spent on the State
Troopers when the police seemed to have had this in control the entire time. It is well known that the head of the WI State Patrol is a friend of Walker's. Rachel Maddow also reported that their were outside "police" presence there also. $5 million from a Gov. who is screaming that WI is out of money. Hmmmm!

4. I have no doubt
he will lay that blame at the feet of the protestors and Democratic Party or use it as an excuse for further cuts.

6. I like this reply from someone that I am sure is not a Repub:
"Walker triggered the need for the security with his crisis. Now he has spent more on security than his alleged budget deficit he claimed created the need to bust unions! Scott Walker will bankrupt WI just like MKE County."

8. They had all kinds of cops there.
Even the Dept. of Natural Resources was called to work. My daughter saw game wardens there.

Let him blame the Democrats and the cops, for the overtime they are earning. The cops already hate him, along with just about everybody else.
