Joe Scarborough calls liberals hypocrites on Libya..
In his opinion piece at Politico today, Joe Scarborough asks, "How can liberals call for Qadhafi's ouster when they opposed the war against Saddam?"

It's a good question! And it would have helped if Scarborough had, you know, identified some liberals who were taking that stance, so they could be asked that. You know, like, maybe a link, or something? So I could see such hypocrisy in action? This is apparently too much to ask.

But, okay! Scarborough says that "for a decade," President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were compared to Hitler and Stalin, "condemned as an immoral beast who killed women and children to get his bloody hands on Iraqi oil," by anti-war activists and CODE PINK, etc. "But," Scarborough says, "in the morally murky afterglow of the Obama years, the certainty of these secula

5. According to Joe, then, conservatives who oppose action in Libya...
are also hypocrites because they supported ousting Saddam.

Right?

6. Depends why. If the reason is that we have no money then that is a changed circumstance.

7. No
Conservatives have no memory. If you can't remember what you stood for yesterday, then you can't be a hypocrite. Even if you could, what conservative voter would remember that you are?

9. Who's calling for his ouster?
All the pro-military action posts I've seen here supported a no-fly zone, so he'd have to stop massacring his own people. That's a long way from "calling for his ouster". That sort of "mission creep" is just what I feared from the very beginning.

10. The Western destruction of Gaddafi's Libya is based on a cheap trick for which Libyans will pay

a horrible price. The trick was the cloaking of the factional anti-Gaddafi rebellion is the false
garbs of "peaceful protests" of the "Arab Spring." It was a well constructed lie. And it worked.

against Libya in the weeks before.

14. Iraq gets extra stupid points for strategic insanity, being under an aircap already,
military already decimated in the previous Gulf War, enhancing the role of Iran in the region, and certainly in having already given Hussein a pass on some of the worst of the Kurd situation when Charles Schultz went over and gave the blue ribbon A-Okay (another reason the first deal was greased by bullshit too).

Invading and occupying Iraq was almost infinitely more stupid just on the face of pissing away about 70 years of bipartisan foreign policy that fostered regional checks and balances and containment. It wasn't perfect or by any means adhered too but the logic was much more sound.

No doubt there is a nugget of truth in his words that should be soul searched and straightened out but even at worst we don't have nearly the obscene clusterfuck we created in Iraq, not without a far cry more pooch screwing than is on the menu as of yet.

15. he just had to look at DU to see 'liberal' hypocrites.
Some even had the gall to admit they favor the Libya bombing because Obama is a Democrat, but would oppose it if Bush were in charge, circumstances otherwise being the same.

18. And vice-versa...
How could you support such an ill-conceived venture as the Iraq invasion and be against this limited action? At least, we hope it is limited?
