The best description yet of Obama's incoherent non-policy on Libya
Edited on Tue Mar-29-11 10:00 PM by markpkessinger
From Georgetown's Dan Nexon:

“Humanitarian-intervention-against-militarily-weak-fossil-fuel-producing-countries-in-strategically-important-regions-that-are-also-located-near-many-large-NATO-military-bases-and-are-run-by-dictators-who-kind-of-piss-us-off-and-have-no-powerful-allies Doctrine.”

To be fair, Nexon is apparently okay with that, but I find it to be a less-than-convincing rationale.

1. Obama has been around long enough now that it's easy to tell when he's
trying to sell you shit, the kind of shit he probably doesn't believe in either. Last hight was the biggest shit sale to date.

2. I don't know about you, but...
...something about his speech last night just didn't ring true for me. I've seen Obama speak when he's really speaking from a place of inner conviction, but last night that just didn't seem to be the case. Something about last night's speech -- the tone, the pacing maybe -- struck me as being overly defensive in nature. In any case, I didn't find it very convincing.

10. It's clear he is well practiced at debate, where you get good at arguing
any side of an issue, except it's very hard to fake sincerity unless you are a good actor too.

3. The Obama defenders sure are busy with that "unrec" button! LOL!
Edited on Tue Mar-29-11 10:45 PM by markpkessinger
I always wonder what people are so afraid of when they "unrec" an item merely because they disagree with it.

5. Welcome to WWIII, which will be distinguished not by scope, but...
by duration--a state of permanent war wherever in the world economic interests are at stake.

Funny that no matter how high the moral ground we claim, it always seems to be consistent with the economic bottom line.

7. The more the moral gound shit is pronounced the faster you need to run
in the other direction.

6. Not much about what we are being fed
resembles anything coherent unless you have the decoder ring. The only coherence I can discover is from personally connective dots and gathering information from those who see through the layers of mass management spin that spews out of McPravda and the political PR office machines.

It is a multilevel carnival of word magic that is framed and re-framed to yield the best possible socially engineered outcome. Where can you find genuine, transparent or direct in that? I call it a big cup of cognitive dissonance filled with steaming hot noise, topped with a dollop of pundit cream and sweetened with two spoons of manufactured consent sugar.

Casting spells never went away, it just morphed into mass media and only Disney would admit to the magic part.
