Live stream shows Decorah Eagles, eggs in nest (Expected to hatch live on camera this week)
DECORAH, Iowa -- The latest technology is giving viewers a live glimpse into the hatching of an eagle.

The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) has been observing two bald eagles in Decorah, Iowa as they care for eggs in their nest. Three eggs have been laid since February 23, 2011. The first egg is expected to hatch in early April.

The RRP has been live streaming the Decorah Eagles in their nest on Ustream.tv. The stream hosted over 20,000 viewers at one time during the day on Friday.

Both eagles, who are not banded, built the nest in 2007. The nest is 80 feet off the ground and 5-6 feet across, as is deep. It is predicted to weight 1.5 tons. The nest was built in a cottonwood tree near the Decorah Fish Hatchery.
