Inside Job. Why aren't these guys in jail instead of in positions of power?
I know its been asked before but Why? Clearly there is negligence and greed and criminal behavior. They took down the middle class and continue to put people out of their homes while they get bonuses. Why? How can it continue? Its just beyond comprehension.

watched the movie last evening. I knew that info but seeing it clearly laid out was upsetting, to say the least. I recommend the movie for everyone.

1. Because they ARE the government...
Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 08:47 AM by truebrit71
I watched it recently too and it does a very good job of explaining how we got into this mess in the first place. They even managed to make derivatives make sense, which is no mean feat in a country where most folks don't know the difference between livestock and preferred stock.

But the answer to your question was clear at the end. The banks own the politicians, which means they own the government which is why the banks are now more powerful than before, more concentrated, and more likely to do it all over again...

And to think the republicans don't like wealth re-distribution...

The biggest robbery of all time took place two years ago and not a single shot was fired...the money was just handed over...

The one thing that movie made me realise was that this system is completely broken. It is rotten from tip to core, and there's just about bugger all we can do about it.

2. but there is only a handful of them and they are crooks, liars and guilty
and they've destroyed the lives of millions upon millions of us...and it continues..how can we let that go unchecked? isn't there someone who is willing to prosecute? this is the crux of the economic problem and here it is, years later, and a new administration..and nothing is done..they continue in power as if there was no wrongdoing..

3. Because the MSM intentionally keeps it under the radar
while keeping average Americans fighting for scraps. The banking oligarchs and captains of industry are intertwined with the media, both Parties and most of the politicians.

If the media wanted to, they could easily incite the masses with huge headlines and daily exposes and put major political pressure on the Obama administration to apply punitive action, but they don't want to. Only with such pressure will this administration ever act to strip the guilty of wealth and incarcerate them. The media is corrupt and biased.

The media moguls are never going to put the heat on their friends, the bankers and financial services shysters who caused this. We all need to ponder and answer the question - why? Maybe then we will begin to address the real reason behind the major inequities in the USA.

7. their faces and names are the reason for the crisis we're in and should be associated daily
greenspan, bernacke, paulson, summers, fuld, blankfein, graham, geithner, dimon..etc

they should be a name..like the disgusting two dozen or something which heaps them together and becomes common knowledge by every american as to who stole their dreams

these guys shouldn't be able to walk down the street without being pointed at as the villains

13. Greenspan still gets face time?
Many economists put most of the blame directly on Allan Greenspan and his incompetent easy money policies that have crashed the dollar and created the bubbles, and yet the media still gives him face time. I can't stand looking at him or listening to him.

Bringing justice to criminals is not the media's job and it is the
job of the Department of Justice. Sure, media coverage could help build attention for the story, and of course, Inside Job is just that, media that attracts attention to the story. So some media is doing a much better job than the people actually entrusted with the responsibility to take legal action.
So who has the actual responsibility here?

15. i think we do if no one else is going to do it..the attorney general is obviously
not going to do it..but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be demanded by everyone who clearly sees whats happened

16. Except that when a government is owned by the perps
they and "Dept of Justice" are never going to act on their own. The leaders need pushed. The consolidated media of today is a tool to keep the masses ill informed, anger deflected from PTB, and creating in conjunction with the political leaders the appropriate timely diversions.

Total mandatory public financing of elections would go a long way towards weakening the political power of super wealthy, lobbyists and even the media. The media makes lots of profits by keeping the public politically divided and costly elections that the rich feed in return for clout.

5. You have only to look at those few names that keep cropping up
Geitner, Summers and Bernake. Three administrations, and these guys are still there handing out candy to the banksters.

9. We watched the movie this past weekend.
I agree that the movie needs to be seen by everyone, but most especially by people who rely on FOX for "information." Those folks couldn't give a realty-based explanation of the economic crisis if their lives depended upon it. They are still convinced that Freddie and Fannie, and ACORN and irresponsible poor people (because of course EVERYONE knows they are the only ones who defaulted on their mortgages) are the only ones who caused the crisis. Those banks would never have given those poor people loans if the government hadn't forced them to do it!

:sarcasm:

Do FOX viewers even KNOW what a credit default swap is?
