from under a rock...
Aren't there bombs or something we could drop onto Fukishema that would somehow negate the nuclear waste? I know that it's boiling hot. I just wondered. Sometimes the stupid can stumble upon the EUREKA! (my idea of "sprinkling dish washer soap on the kitchen floor, making a paste, and letting it sit over night, and EUREKA! sweep it up in the morning and your floor is sparkling clean!" idea was not a good one either)

2. Thank you for not being mean.
What about some other element that, little did we know, neutralizes a melt down. Something we have a lot of, like Kudzu?

3. No. Sorry.
There's no simple solution. In fact, since nobody actually knows the exact extent of the damage to these plants, there's no solution at all yet. until the damage is known and assessed, planning can't really begin for ending the crisis.

It's very complicated, and laypersons' solutions will not work.

5. Any type of bomb dropped would just serve to spread the
contamination far and wide..the larger the bomb the farther the fallout.

6. The only acceptable "bomb" we could drop on that mess would be a billion tons of heavy clay.
And they're still going to have to sink a dam into the soil around the plant to prevent the waste from getting into the water table and ocean.

8. I didn't consider that I was being revoluntionary until I read your post.
What are the other choices? None.

It's all about containment now, and it's going to cost far more than the $12 billion TAPCO proposed - unless they do it correctly and smart: dams and cover.
