Conservative forces continue making steady progress on all fronts against progressive forces. Teachers, labor unions and social services have been particular targets and have seen mounting casualties. Once ascendant progressive forces have been relegated in recent weeks to fighting increasingly desperate rear-guard actions.

A spokesperson for conservative forces laid out their strategy; "We will starve progressive forces and those who support them of resources. We will squeeze them until they are weak enough and small enough to drown in a bathtub."

Despite a steady string of setbacks, progressive leader, Barack Obama, continues to hold fast to his stated belief that only a negotiated settlement with conservatives is possible. His efforts to "find common ground" with conservative forces, rather than confront them on the field of battle, have netted progressive forces nothing but lost ground.

Obama's "Common Ground" strategy -- some say, lack of strategy -- has resulted in one negotiated retreat after another for progressive forces.
