WISCONSIN-GOP TO IGNORE JUDGE-Despite a second restraining order from a Wisconsin judge
WED MAR 30, 2011 AT 12:00 PM EDT
Wisconsin GOP to ignore judicial restraining order, again
byChris BowersforDaily Kos

Despite a second restraining order from a Wisconsin judge temporarily blocking implementation of the budget repair bill pending further litigation, the Scott Walker administration will continue acting as though the bill is law:

But outside the courtroom, Assistant Attorney General Steven Means said the legislation "absolutely" is still in effect.

"It's just startling that the attorney general believes you should not follow court orders anymore," he said.

14. If the recall efforts are successful and all eight Senators are recalled
Democrats might be able to accomplish that very thing.. I am not sure what is happening in the House if anything but if Recall efforts are successful I would bet many Republicans there will have second thoughts on how they behave..If the Recall efforts fail then Wisconsin is in for a world of hurt.."you betcha"

2. Unraveling of democracy.
The republicans are pure renegades. They always have the option of challenging the stay/restraining order in court.

3. This is the same thing he did in Milwaukee county
and it ended up costing the state a lot of money when he lost his court case. They keep bringing up that they can't be arrested while Congress is in session, so he likely thinks he's safe from arrest or fine.

5. This is very simple
It is called "contempt of court" and the offenders should be pitched into the hoosegow ASAP no matter who they are.

I hope this judge has the courage to punish Snotty Scotty and his AG appropriately.

6. If they are violating a court order what are the penalties for this, and why isn't anyone pursuing
it?

10. Judges routinely give parties lots of leeway, particularly other branches.
That's probably why the second order wasn't too harsh.

But this time, I'd expect some sort of sanctions, hopefully personal. I suppose the ultimate end game would be sending the marshalls to arrest the person in contempt, and jail them until compliance.

9. It's past time for the court ordered contempt of court and ARREST.
What are they waiting for? They have deliberately ignored 2 court orders.

12. Their intransigence on this has me a little worried.
It's like they believe they can't be touched. I'm wondering if they know for a fact that the Wisconsin Supreme Court will bail them out of all of this.

13. If a contempt of court order
and arrest order are issued, Walker better not resist arrest because I'm guessing local policemen would not exactly be reluctant to use force

16. This may not mean what it seems to mean.
It's possible that the law could remain in effect and yet they would be barred from implementing it.

Somehow there's a difference there. I don't know if they've actually defied the second order yet.

17. This is a bit misleading.
This quote was made by Barca the Dem Assembly Minority Leader, not by Mean.

"It's just startling that the attorney general believes you should not follow court orders anymore," he said.

23. Then they need to be punished.
It doesn't do much good to bemoan people not following laws when they're never punished for ignoring them.

If one of us ignored a court order we'd be in hip deep shit if we were lucky. I see no reason this should be any different.
