I know the admin. lifted the moratorium on deep sea drilling a good while ago |

can anyone help me with some information on what has been done to prevent the next oil disaster? I gather the approval process has been tweaked a bit for new platforms (someone might actually read the paperwork before rubber-stamping it?) It is hard for me to find out what has been done to assure the safety of existing platforms, such as the BP Atlantis. Have there been 'sweeping reforms' to come out of America's worst environmental disaster?
How can we trust this admin. to make us safe from nuclear disasters? (my sense is that we most obviously, can't)

1. I read here on DU that exactly nothing has changed. |

Requirements are the same as before the Gulf spill. And no, we can't trust the government to protect us from nuclear disasters or anything else.
