'Breast Milk Baby': Does Doll For Girls Cross Line?

A new doll that mimics the act of breast-feeding has some parents up in arms and the manufacturer defending itself against accusations of perversion.

Called "Breast Milk Baby," the doll sold through Berjuan Toys for $89 allows children to imitate the act of breast-feeding by using a special halter top that comes with the toy.

The top is made from a colorful material with two flowers positioned where nipples would be. When the doll's mouth is brought close to a sensor embedded in the flower, the baby makes motions and sounds consistent with suckling.

Critics say the doll is over-sexualizing young girls or forcing them to grow up too quickly, but the company and supporters have said the toys are meant to teach young girls about the nurturing skills they'll need later in life.

1. I want to be outraged
but frankly, there are so many things to be outraged about that are larger than this, that I have outrage fatigue.

12. I'm outraged.
Over how little outrage you're displaying. What if this was a breast feeding doll that also made fried chicken with corn flakes? Would you be outraged then?

2. Breast feeding isn't sexualizing young girls...
Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 01:45 PM by Ozymanithrax
It is indoctrinating them into the proper role of women as future mothers.

Damn, people, get a grip.

4. Breastfeeding is not a "perversion".
If dolls that pee and poop are okay, this is okay too. I really don't see the big deal.

...did the doll have a pit bull? At Olive Garden?

'Cause that's some perverted shit right there.

7. While I do not think breast feeding is a "sexual act", this is
going a bit far. Kids can learn to nurture by example, but not necessarily by having to breast feed a baby. Not every woman breast feeds their baby and are still nurturing to them. This really is a tad weird.

Though, as the first poster said...I really don't give a shit right now. The world is imploding. We have more important things to worry about. :( A doll isn't one of them.

9. I think that was introduced a couple of years ago.
Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 02:02 PM by MineralMan
Little sister wants to do what mom's doing with the new baby. Little sisters have always had baby dolls. They diaper them, just like mom does. It's how mom helps keep them from being jealous.

What do you find wrong or sexual about breast-feeding, I wonder?

How is breast-feeding sexual?

On edit: I was right. This was introduced in 2009, and created a stir then, too. Oh, well.

11. I'd rather that young girls learn that the original purpose of
breasts were to provide nourishment to offspring, not to be filled with silicone or bags of water for daddy. Save the outrage for the hootchie fashions for toddlers and young girls that truly do sexualize them.

22. $89? You've got to be joking. Most kids would lose the halter top (or wreck
the electronics in it) within a month. I've seen little girls pretend to breast-feed with ordinary dolls and they'll learn as much "nurturing" from that as they will from this overpriced piece of crap.

I mean, it is unique, but this is targeted to little kids. Why should parents spend $89 on this?

Critics who find something sexual in the act of a baby feeding are twisted fucks.

I just hope the doll doesn't come with a My Olive Garden™ playset.
