Denny's Introduces Bacon Sundae
Look. We get it. Bacon is delicious.

But this might be taking things a little too far.

As part of its annual "Baconalia Festival," which features several bacon-based dishes -- tipple bacon BLT, bacon sampler, bacon flap jacks, etc. -- Denny's has just introduced a maple bacon sundae.

Watch Denny's Baconalia Commercials

So much bacon! Here are commercials for Denny's "Baconalia" festival with seven bacon-laden dishes, including the Maple Bacon Sundae. It's called "the sacred festival of bacon," "a cripsy feast of epic proportions," and "a celebration of baconian delights." Bacon is good and everything, but the commercial with the title "MMM's" has more moaning than we're really comfortable with.

2. We don't have a Denny's near us.
The last Denny's we went to was by Niagra Falls, on the Canadian side, and breakfast cost us about $50 (I don't remember Denny's being expensive like that).

5. That's just Niagara Falls...
everything there is 25%-50% higher than outside of the city.

Canadian Denny's, in general, are more expensive than their US counterparts though. :hi:

3. Mmmm....bacon!
Of course, a guy wouldn't have to eat all those meals, I think. One would do me just fine. I don't do Denny's, though.

4. I've had chocolate covered bacon
and I was surprised at how tasty it was. The combination of sweet and savory worked really well together. This would be similar. I'd probably like it.

11. You are correct.
Molecular gastronomists like Herve This and Heston Blumenthal have devoted a lot of time and energy to food pairings, and bacon/chocolate is a good one. Bacon contains at least eight different amide chains associated with umami.

I'd probably give this sundae a try, but I'm not sure where Denny's politics stand these days.

It's pretty popular.

14. There must be a certain percentage of the population that just doesn't give a shit about health.
And I mean some places are trying - and then there's Denny's, Hardees, and Burger King going for the exact opposite.

17. Yeah, but if you're eating fast food regularly...
even at a place that tries, you're not that concerned about health. It is kind of like dessert--either get something decadent or skip it totally. In other words, is it worse to eat a truly epic bacon-infused breakfast occassionally, or a semi-clogging meal every day?
All that said, I am all for adding some healthy options, especially to the kids menus.

20. I Saw That a Couple of Nights Ago
(Denny's was the only place open) It also has maple syrup IIRC.

My girlfriend asked why the government didn't start controlling restaurant menu items. She is from China, so I had to explain that that is not how things work in this country.
