On April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tenn., where he had gone to support sanitation workers demanding their dream: The right to bargain collectively for a voice at work and a better life.
*As you know, the right to bargain collectively for a voice at work and a middle-class life are under attack as never before.*
So we're combating these new threats with unprecedented solidarity. On April 4, and on the days surrounding it, working families across the country will be organizing numerous actions. Together, we'll stand with working people in Wisconsin and dozens of other states where corporate-bought politicians are trying to take away the rights for which Dr. King gave his life.
Holding a sign or going to a rally isn't the only way to participate. Whether or not you were directly involved in the worker uprisings in Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio and other states, you are a part of our movement.
You can take part in dozens of different ways. Here are a few ideas:
* *To find a vigil, rally or other public event near you, go to We-R-1.org <
http://local.we-r-1.org/partners/wa >* It has a zip code-searchable list of local actions around the country.
* *Commit to update your Facebook status or profile picture* to let your friends and family know that, like Dr. King, you believe "all labor has dignity."
* *Check out ideas for other actions and events. <

Will you commit to taking action for working people during the week of April 4?
In solidarity,
Working America, AFL-CIO
