THEY are winning

THEY! THEM! -- Tea bag morons, -- the Republican Party, -- crazies of every flavor imaginable, -- the super wealthy who own everything, -- however you want to identify them.

They’re winning. But what about the rest of us? Those who are still sane, broke or near broke, jobless or near jobless? Those who are ready to give up and are on the verge of losing everything to these creatures from the dark ages? Are we really totally helpless?

THEY own TV and radio “news.” THEY own the print media. THEY own far too many state governments, and far too much of the federal government. THEY own Wall Street. THEY own the national banks. And THEY own just about everything else there is to own.

This isn’t about the election in 2012. THEY own the voting machines and elections are close to becoming virtually meaningless.

This post is about the survival of whatever is left of what we would like to think of as a “free people.” This is about what we would like to believe are our laws, our principals, our values, our constitution, our country, our planet. This is about our very existence.

We The People have been under attack for many decades, and THEY, THEM, are on the verge of victory. Even when “we” supposedly had control of the government between 2008 and 2010, what happened? Was anything fixed, changed, or corrected? Not one damn thing.

So here’s my question and it’s about as clear as it gets. What do we do now?

People should be careful of the things they ask for because they might actually get them. I think that the present course has the potential to create tremendous pressure that will send the pendulum swinging far back in the other direction.

It seems that each generation or every few generations, people forget what was learned and have to go through the same struggles.

I do feel yours.

I don't have any neat and tidy answers because I don't think they exist. We are doomed to a system of fits and starts and partial temporary victories that may vanish in an instant if we drop our guard or allow "THEM" to divide "US" against each other.

Take care of yourself and those you care about. Make sure you understand the difference between "want" and "need". Plant a garden. Read more. "Simplify, simplify."

8. Yep. Thoreau had a great concept with "Simplify, simplify."

But we live in a much more complex age when the whims of the powerful can crush the will of the many.

It's getting harder and harder to plant your own garden when the seeds are being sold at a thousand bucks an ounce.

Nonetheless, I do respect your hopefulness and positive thoughts. I guess I've just let the "THEMS" overpower my optimism -- for the time being.

5. First, we recognize that THEY and THEM are not the same entity.

THEM is a race of giant ants. :)

Secondly, and more seriously, I think you're assigning blame to the useful idiots. 'They' aren't winning either, and the sooner we recognize that...the better. Their CANDIDATES, and the evil that those candidates SERVE are winning...but not the useful idiots themselves.

The voting machines? Yeah...that's a dead issue until someone, somewhere, gets ~definitive~ proof of it. Makes us easy targets for the 'wild-eyed liberal conspiracy theorist' meme that, while not necessarily sticking, makes it annoying enough that your average person will simply drown out BOTH messages. Keep looking for the evidence, but we've got to stop bringing it up to people who have shown, quite clearly, that they simply don't give a shit. They don't want a technical explanation of why they're flawed -- THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO HAPPILY LET A VCR BLINK AT 12:00 FOR ITS ENTIRE LIFETIME (!).

As for what do we do now...well, I think that will play its hand out in good time.
