14. I was barely born at the time of Carter's Presidency, but I believe
that he was the last decent President America had, despite his love for dictators. America drastically shifted to the perverse right with the Reagan Revolution, which is still in effect to this day. Unfortunately, Obama nor Clinton have steered us safely away from the Reagan Revolution (i.e. downhill path).

48. Carter is a great man, a visionary, and was a very good President who have recieved a bad rap, but
lets not whitewash the past or minimize his foreign policy by comparing and contrasting to Presidents who have had worse foreign policy. Carter deserves many accolades during his time as President and out of office and to much to his credit, he does pursue negotiations over brute military conflict.

The man is great, but not perfect.

Religious too, but it's his spirit that makes him such a good man. He sure did, and does, a lot of praying and he isn't ashamed of that at all. I don't recall anyone giving him grief about it either.

26. The last of his kind
an actual Democrat in the White House. many liberals have long joked that Bill Clinton is the best Republican president we ever had. And Obama - well.. he looked like he might give Bill a run for his money, but not looking good at all right now in this liberal's eyes. But Carter - he wore his emotions and caring for the people of this country on his sleeve. Such caring for the American people has not been seen since. I have much respect for Jimmy Carter indeed. :)

44. I don't think that is a coincidence
I have thought many times they have pulled out the same play book they used on Carter to distance the voting public from Obama. And like Carter, the Republicans want to make Obama a one-termer. Seems pretty obvious, but maybe you had to live during those times and observe the moves.

Sam

I wonder if he'll ever completely break with this part of his history, finally lay out the corruption in this office. I'd like to read that book by Jimmy Carter. He knows the secrets. He knows the master financial manipulators. Wish he'd expose them.

31. Contrary to the revisionist history...
the best President in my lifetime. Why?

Because the country was looking for an honest man after Watergate and the Vietnam War. They chose Jimmy Carter.

No, he did not go to war with Iran over the hostages but they all came home. He negotiated right up to the moment he left office and Ronald Reagan entered. None of them were killed. He was not weak. He was strong in his patience and policy of human rights for all. He negotiated the treaty between Egypt and Israel that has held for 30 years thus far.

The inflation was not the result of Carter policies but those before him, primarily the oil embargo of 1973-74. The Repubs were too caught up in Watergate to do anything except stay out of jail.

Revisionist history has changed the true accomplishments of the Carter Administration. Reagan enjoyed many of the rewards of the Carter energy policy, for example. They portrayed him as weak on foreign policy but he did not trade arms for hostages.

If you stand where they are, those four are to their right. Only Carter moved leftward.

I voted for Carter, Clinton, and Obama. I fell my vote was tainted on all but Carter.

Obama: I'd like to .. uh .. offer my sincerest condolences to your penis, seeing as how it spewed out nothing but demon drunks, assholes, addicts and thieves.

Bewsh I: Welllll, can't choose our kids, can we?

Obama: Oh, and thanks for the whole "Trickle Down" thing, and letting these pit viper rich fucks run the country. Doesn't make my job HARDER or anything . . .

Bewsh I: I was OUT OF THE LOOP DAN . . . er . .. where are we?

Obama: God help me, I may be the smartest person here. Oh, and your son just shit himself. Again. I can almost TASTE it. And he smells like scotch and dead Reagans. Again.

Clinton: Pitcher taker's got some nice cans, don't she?

Bewsh II: Y'oughta see the honeys we got after Rangers games.

Clinton: You just ripped one agin, didn't ya?

Bewsh II: It was a good'un. The black guy's mouth was open.

Clinton: Jesus Christ, man.
