Schakowsky tears into Cantor for saying Social Security ‘cannot exist’ in a future America

WASHINGTON – Democrats continued to take shots at Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) days after he made remarks questioning the future of Social Security, as the GOP majority leader insisted his words were over-interpreted.

On a conference call Thursday, Rep. Jan Schakowsky's (D-IL) told reporters that Cantor's remarks were "stunning" and "so completely out of touch" with ordinary Americans.

"Eric Cantor's statement underscores that, now, are willing to turn on seniors by taking away the very bedrock of their financial and health security," Schakowsky said, invoking GOP attempts in 2005 to privatize the Social Security. "Anyone who's paying attention to the policy proposals and actions of the Republican leadership will not be shocked."

8. this clot feels you can make laws by fiat. he's a complete ass.
He only exists to stab Boehner in the back and become "LEADER". Its like watching a human sock puppet replay of Megatron and Starscream.

12. Since Gitmo is still open, just pluck him off the streets one night and take him down there to
fantasize about his "vision" of America for about 20yrs without any representation or visits. I hear that this happens to people all the time and no one ever hears from them again in his vision of America, so lets give him a taste of it.

4. "..over-interpreted"? Just what is that supposed to mean? I think I can interpret the words he used
as they were in standard English.

7. "Over-interpreted" means questioned or disagreed with.
We're either supposed to pay no attention to anything that issues from his mouth, or actively cheer for it.

5. Cantor fucked up
And yes, we need to get his odious remarks front and center. "Over-interpreted," nothing; it merely revealed too much of what Republicans really want. We need to hammer them on their "over-interpreted" statements. I don't care if it hurts their widdle feelings.
