"Two Denver police officers fired in videotaped LoDo beating case"
WTF? No criminal charges? You can see clearly in the video (at the link) this man was doing nothing wrong. He wasn't interfering with the police arresting someone else, he was just standing talking on his cell phone.

Two Denver police officers were fired this afternoon in connection with a 2009 beating of 23-year-old man in Lower Downtown.

Officer Devin Sparks and Cpl. Randy Murr have both lost their jobs, Safety Manager Charley Garcia and Mayor Bill Vidal said during a press conference at City Hall this afternoon.

Sparks was caught on videotape throwing Michael DeHerrera to the ground as DeHerrera talked on a cellphone. The video then shows Sparks repeatedly beating him with a department-issued sap, a piece of metal wrapped in leather.

The Denver district attorney's office reviewed the case and declined to file criminal charges.

1. I hope this guy sues them.
Money talks and if that's the only way stop brutality, so be it.

It's sure not going to be stopped on the street. Videos and lawsuits, that's what we've got.

2. Why the F*ck would that DA refuse to file charges?
:wtf:

How much more blatantly illegal could that cop's actions be? He attacked an innocent person who was standing nearby for no F*cking reason whatsoever! :grr:

If THAT isn't enough to get a cop charged with assault, then what the F*ck would it take! Is there ANYTHING that would EVER convince that DA to press assault charges against any police officer?

That DA needs to lose his job! Is there anyone here who's local and knows the names and phone numbers? Some complaint letters need to be sent.

6. I assume that's a rhetorical question. If not, the DA and the police are best buddies.
The police can do no wrong by the DA. Maybe the FBI should be involved.

7. why did it take so long? My cousin forgot to pay a parking ticket and he was
pulled over and hauled to jail, for driving with a suspended license, AND his truck was impounded.

There should be zero tolerance for police brutality just like there is for unpaid parking tickets.
