The Democrats should stand firm, let the Pukes shut the Government down
when their Teabagger supporters can't get their medicine or Social Security checks, when the government grinds to a halt and the markets crash, when the Army is forced to stand down World Wide, the blame will be placed on the Republicans and finish them as a party for decades.

Shut it down, finish them off. Call their bluff, fuck 'em.

Have at it.

1. The army is exempt from a government shutdown. Last time Newt and the Pukes shut it down,
the main complaints were the stopping of medicare, SS checks, and the closing of the all National Parks.

9. I was in the military the last time and we were not exempted.
Because the Defense Authorization bill was passed in January, military pay checks will not be affected tis time.

However, the VA is not under the defense authorization bill, which is paychecks for retirees, and the VA hospital, Tricare, etc. etc.

My brother is retired military and will working on a based in Colorado for a group not funded by the defense bill. He is lose both his VA retirement and his paycheck. He gets low income housing in military housing there, which is not funded under the Defense Authorization bill, and the civilian company they hired to manage military housing has complained that they may have to evict retirees and active duty military if the government does not pay them.

Every government employee not working directly for a program funded by defense will not be paid. Government programs that provide money for schools in bock grants, hire police officers, poor money into the repair of highways, the TSA, will not be paid. A governemnt shut down will suck, and quite possibly trigger that second our third double dip in the economy that people tell us won't happen.

2. Not so much
It won't affect the military...everything else will be closed and all Americans will feel it, not just the radical knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, flat earthers known as the Tea Party.

7. Sad to say
As painful as it will be for some, shutting down the government won't be a totally bad thing.

Perhaps the cold sobering shock of not having that Social Security check in the mailbox will be much needed incentive to get more people involved in thefight to keep Social Security off of the republican chopping block.

The Democrats NEED to let the republicans own this one. Shut the fucker down...and help your neighbors that will be without when it does.

8. Agreed. Let the people see what the Baggers "No Federal Gov't" looks like ...
.... I suspect the majority of Americans aren't going to be too pleased with the outcome. Better to let them have a look now before they get suckered into voting for it.

19. Not much actually gets shut down
The checks will still be printed and mailed, etc. About the only things most people will notice will be federal parks will be closed. Most people won't notice anything except the people who's jobs will be furlowed.
