Dan Kapanke's Choice.
MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following this morning's report in the La Crosse Tribune that petitions to force the recall of Sen. Dan Kapanke will be filed today in Madison.

"Dan Kapanke made his choice when he cast his lot with Scott Walker and his extreme power grab. Today, a coalition of Republicans, Democrats and independents took the historic step of calling him to account.

This only seven weeks after Scott Walker smirked at cameras as he revealed his plan to not only strip Wisconsin workers of their rights, but also tear apart our communities with radical cuts to public safety, schools and other institutions.

People all over Wisconsin, and the Coulee region, tried to make themselves heard. But Kapanke, like Walker, would not listen.

Now, Kapanke has no choice but to know that the working families of Wisconsin will be heard.

As for the seven other Republicans who have joined with Walker, they will know soon what Kapanke knows, that when Wisconsin's working families speak, you should take care to listen."

Edited on Fri Apr-01-11 03:30 PM by LaPera
to be removed as well as the slimy republicans attempt to steal California the republicans forever.... Rove clouded up the CA field after Davis with dozens of no chance in hell would be Guvs and got a republican star everyone knew knowing he'd get most of the votes...

But it was Bush/Rove's Texas Kenny Boy Lay's Enron that forced and manipulated the CA Deregulated energy market done by republican guv Pete Wilson who deregulated it and Enron came tight in - Still it Rove's wet dream to get democratic California into the republicans column - They'll try it next through electronic voting machines if they can get Dem Secretary of State Debra Bowen out of office.

Democrats pay people to canvass for candidates, too. The difference is in Wisconsin there is enough enthusiasm on our side that we can put money into broadcast commercials because tons of people are volunteering to get the signatures.

It's also dangerous to pay per signature as it could be tempting for a collector to write down names from a phone book.

46. I think it was likely removed because the Republicans know they can't get the signatures
They figured out they were wasting money on a lost cause, they are hardly talking about their campaign to recall the democrats and it is pretty much impossible to get 25% of the voters to sign a petition when you have to pay people in order to motivate them to collect signatures. A recall requires a real grassroots effort, the Republicans don't have that.

17. Here's where you can chip in $3 to help them keep it going:
/snip

Click here to see our new TV ad -- and chip in $3 to keep the momentum going!

https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/recalltherepublicans?refcode=pccc-e2-kapanke-don-notcur

Our new ad -- made with our friends at Democracy for America -- has received widespread media attention and praise for capturing the magic of this recall movement.

Airing the ad more on TV will give air cover to the ground troops who are doing such great work locally -- including many Wisconsin PCCC members who are out gathering recall signatures.

We've raised $150,000 so far and can expand our ad buy when we hit $200,000. Click here to chip in $3 and keep the momentum going!

Thanks for being a bold progressive,

And I like the $3 suggestion - so many more people can give just that than, for example, my e-mails from Biden saying "so contribute $50 or $100 today to help us reach our goal". I'm like, no can do, so they get nothing, but $3? Sure, and I can even give a little more. Psychology, I guess. :7

50. Grothman is in the most solidly Republican district in the state...
He is one of the two Senators that organizers are not putting a lot of effort into defeating because as much as they would like to see him defeated his district is just leans so far to the right that it is not worth wasting a lot of resources on. They are still collecting signatures and from what I understand they are getting a lot of them, whether it will be enough to get a recall on the ballot though is another question and if they do get a recall election it will unfortunately be very difficult to win.

Fitzgerald is not eligible for recall until November, his district is very red also so he is a long shot but we would still have a better shot at him than at Grothman. Grothman is an asshole, but Fitzgerald is actually violating laws. Ignoring court orders can turn even Republicans against you so it is worth putting some resources into his recall even if it is an uphill battle.

Dan Kapanke: 45,454
Tara Johnson: 42,627

Kapanke won by 2807 votes with 51.6% of the total. He is very vulnerable and he knows it. A lot of people here are really pissed and I hope they all get out and vote in the recall election, because a Kapanke loss will send shock waves through the rest of them.

51. Defeat Kapanke first, then get Hopper and you have a lot of momentum built
Kapanke and Hopper should be easy to defeat, there are four more that are a bit tougher but certainly winnable and if we have the momentum from Kapanke and Hopper recalls going into those four races we stand a decent chance of taking down six of the eight targets.

76. FL legislature on both sides are upset with Rick Scott -
Would love to see him recalled. He's broken the FL State Constitution already a couple of times AND his grifting arse is trying to come back in to drain the rest of the $$ out of FL by signing over his company to his wife so he can give her unnecessary drug test contracts, just for starters.

The working people are comprised of both left and right - and they are pissed off here too!

Cheers
Sandy

75. I heard that TEPCO was looking to hire some hands for...
reactor repairs in Japan, maybe the teabaggers that get recalled can go right back to work and stay off the government tit.

If they do the programming, it could explain why they are acting so brash.
