We also don't need low-income housing or heat, either.

We just need to learn how to be Air Plants.

Or, better yet... just die.

can tell when the year ends.

Look up the information you need on the SS website. It is the environmentally friendly thing to do.

Perhaps a poll is due.

a republican congress in order to gin up support for the destruction of the program.

i'm guessing sometime in the reagan or bush 1 era.

i don't remember getting them before that.

ah, yes: bush 1:

5) P. L. 101-239, Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1989, signed 12/19/89:

This law contained 25 provisions related to SSA or its programs. (See Appendix 1 for a complete list).

Among the provisions of note was a requirement that SSA send annual Personal Earnings & Benefit Estimate Statements to virtually all persons working under Social Security. These statements (which we now call simply Social Security Statements) are the primary financial-planning tool made available by SSA. As a result of this legislation, SSA mails a Social Security Statement automatically to all workers age 25 and older. (The Statements can also be requested by any worker at any time.)

30. well, for one thing, the annual scary message they include about the state of the program.
Social Security is a compact between generations. For
more than 60 years, America has kept the promise
of security for its workers and their families. But
now, the Social Security system is facing serious
future financial problems and action is needed...

Unless action is taken
soon to strengthen Social Security, in just 11 years we
will begin paying more in benefits than we collect in
taxes. Without changes, by 2040 the Social Security
Trust Fund will be exhausted.* By then, the number
of Americans 65 or older is expected to have doubled.
There won't be enough younger people working to pay
all of the benefits owed to those who are retiring. At that
point, there will be enough money to pay only about
74 cents for each dollar of scheduled benefits. We will
need to resolve these issues soon to make sure Social
Security continues to provide a foundation of protection
for future generations as it has done in the past.

https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms/images/SSA7/G-SSA-7005-SM-SI-1.pdf

for another, the relatively low amount young workers will see on their statement v. the cut from their paycheck.

I'm not a huge Obama fan, but people are now on the internets. For those that aren't, requesting a paper copy seems fine.
