Madison unions file suit alleging collective bargaining bill unconstitutional

Three labor unions have sued Gov. Scott Walker and the state claiming the collective bargaining bill infringes on employees’ equal protection rights and their rights to freedom of speech and association.

"Regardless of how individuals feel about the level of compensation and benefits received by public sector employees, it is without a doubt that those employees, citizens of our state, are entitled to equal protection and freedom of association, and this Act improperly attempts to strip public sector workers of those rights," said attorney Bruce Ehlke in a press release.

The case has been assigned to Dane County Judge Peter Anderson.
