I see it time and again, and time and again it distresses me beyond belief |

Children charged with crimes charged as adults.
8, 10, 12, 14 year old children charged as adults.
True enough, their crimes are serious, perhaps even worthy of being described as heinous. Tonight was the story of a 14 year old boy who beat his grandmother nearly to death with a hammer. Nothing excuses that. Nothing. Some will say there's no possibility for rehabilitation for the perpetrator of such a crime.
But if that's so, why do we need a court and trials and juvenile crime laws?
They're children, for krissakes!

1. I agree. They are still children, and at age 14, they can't comprehend |
|
the potential of their crime, its seriousness, and permanence. Their brains don't work well enough that for several more years.

At 15 I had no idea of what permanent was. I hate that we throw lives away in this manner.

When children commit those types of heinous crimes, I can understand why some would want to charge them as adults... but they are not. They need to be treated as what they are and that is juveniles.
