Co-Morbid Capitalism
http://smirkingchimp.com/thread/mike-samu/35318/co-morbid-capitlism

Through out the recent economic downturn, we have witnessed many symptoms of a much bigger problem, and have taken them on, one-by-one without ever looking into the real causes of why we are now living with stagnated pay rates, cuts to education, reduction in retirement benefits, loss of rights and privileges, the off shoring of jobs, and loss of tax revenues. Each of these are mere symptoms of the greater problem; the problem of Co-morbid Capitalism.

By co-morbid, I refer to the American Psychological Association (APA) definition of having more than one cause for our disorders. Capitalism is, without a doubt, the economic system that made America a great country, an industry leader and the reason why so many people want to live in the United States, seeking their own personal fortunes and raising their families in a progressive nation of equality, fairness and opportunity. The Great American dream lifted many out of poverty, but it comes at a cost. In reality, Capitalism is the process of acquiring all the capital possible at the expense of another; for at one time, money had limitations .... until recently with QE1, 2 & the upcoming QE3, when the FED’s printing presses began running 24/7, printing fiat money, with no intrinsic value.

Since Nixon took us off the gold-standard, the printing plates were changed from “silver certificates” to “promissory notes” back in the 1970's. Promissory, meaning that the government promises to pay all legal tender on it’s name alone, and like the promises made to pension plans, social security and medicare, the promises can be reneged at any time the government decides to resend their promises.

The second problem has been the systematic de-sensitization of the American public to the horror of wars, the environmental detestation caused by multinational corporations, and implanted into the American psyche the concept that budget deficits are not a problem. With credit cards and major loans for appliances, automobiles and housing, we began to believe the spoon-fed delusion.
