Three assholes in a Lexus. |
|
It has been a long, tiring week. My wife and I this afternoon driving on the freeway through Sacramento to have diner with a dear friend and looking forward to relaxation and comradeship.
Up beside us pulls a new Lexus with three young (mid 20s) men(?). Driver honks several times points to my bumper, gives a "thumbs down" gesture and pulls ahead.
What the hell? The bumper has a "Veterans for Obama" decal from the last election. For this sin this asshole figures to harass me at speed on the freaking freeway? Does he not like Obama? Does he not like veterans? Does he dislike old people? (my white beard and pony tale are a dead give away).
After stewing for a minute I did catch up to him and give him a questioning shrug. "What the fuck is your problem"? Again I get the "thumbs down". That earned him and his laughing asshole cohorts a simultaneous finger from both my wife and myself.
Okay. They are young. I understand that. I was young once myself..... over forty years ago in South East Asia.
Okay. They have the weekend off from shuffling papers and sucking other peoples money (as a guess) and are on their way to Tahoe to gamble or ski (another guess) or whatever the fuck young assholes in Lexus do.
But why hassle me on the flipping freeway? What kind of cowardly bully crap is that?
Someday, perhaps soon, they will bully someone who might be carrying HIS Smith and Wesson IN the car. Then they might learn the true relation of stupidity and the Darwinian theory. I won't cry and the world will have lost nothing of value.
Sorry for the rant but I just had to vent a bit.

brats ruin your drive? I hope you didn't let it ruin your dinner. At most I might of shaken my head the way a mom does when they see a kid doing something stupid. Let it go. The only people it is bothering is you, unless you are making your wife suffer too.

Dude, decaf. As far as them being in a Lexus, let's not make this about them having what they might think is a "sweet" ride.

If it had just been an Obama sticker, they might have done more. But the "Veteran" part made them at least *consider* the idea that this car might have a firearm inside of it somewhere. Conservatives are notorious cowards. They only directly bully people when they feel like there's no risk involved.

They looked properly embarrassed as ther were giggles from several people who heard it.

2. First amendment rights? Hogspit! His act was one of calculated aggression. Apparently, he calculated that I was a benign "librul" and would have no reaction. Do you honestly think that this brown-shirt wanna be would have made the same gesture to a Hell's Angel? Do you think that that bloated gasbag with his foot on the neck of a young woman was "exercising his first amendment rights"? Think again.
3. Everyone has a tipping point. Hell, societies have tipping points. My threshold of bullshit has been surpassed. As much as I do admire Ghandi.... I am not him. The fascist assholes think that their power is on the ascendant..... maybe they are wrong.

1) You said they drove and you caught up with them to ask 'what the fuck is your problem'? and, in response to their thumbs down (you put your opinion out there in the form of a bumper sticker) - you and the wife upgrade to a Fuck you?? And you do NOT see that as road rage??
2) 3 Smiling people in a car that give a thumbs down to your political sticker are tantamount to Hitler's brownshirts? When did a Thumbs down become harassment - shit, someone call Gene Siskel!!!!
3) Your tipping point is three guys giving you a pretty mundane and polite disagreement to a bumper sticker you put on your car? That is you tipping point? Please get help.

OK...was not talking to you.
However, the OP started a thread where he mentioned that 3 people in another car gave him a thumbs down. He gets highly irate - follows them and then confronts them about a thumbs down signal. He and the wife then give them a Fuck You (and I would bet a few other choice words).
You do not see that as an over reaction to a minor situation? What if he had had a gun - what if the other car was full of violent people (instead of the juveniles that seemed to be riding in the lexus)?
I am guessing that you possess a persecution complex...just to continue the mental health tangent.

40. Let us be *really* clear. |
|
1. Three young people in a Lexus passed you. You had to chase them down, but at no time did you exceed the speed limit. You really expect people to believe you overtook three young people - who passed you - without exceeding the speed limit? Chasing people down to give them the finger is road rage.
2. "Thumbs down" signal is not an act of aggression. Easing into your lane is. Pulling in front and pressing the brake is. Tailgating is. One wonders if you had not been safely in your car on the highway, but in a parking lot - would you have given the finger to three young people? (This in response to the Hell's Angel question - who by the way, rarely have bumpers or bumper stickers.)
3 and 4. You chased him down. That is aggressive. Gave them a finger (actually, with the wife it was two.) That is aggressive. They honked and gave you a thumbs down. That is not aggressive.

I spent thirty yeaqrs as a field archaeologist. In the early 80s I was working with a crew surveying several geothermal sites in the Southern California desert. The area was remote, we camped in Mexico, no cell phone no silly "911" dialing. We were harassed daily by construction workers (not all of them, but enough) who had an apparent priapism against environmentalists. The construction crew were fresh from working at Diablo Canyon.... a nuclear plant built on a fault. There had been quite a bit of protest about that placement and that project. Their slogan: "Ain't no hippie gonna stand between me and my paycheck". Every time we went to town to resupply there was harassment..... until one of our crew wore a holstered pistol. That pretty much stopped the trouble.
Since that time I did carry when in isolated areas, many archaeologists did and still do.
Draw your own conclusions.

a couple of years ago and I can't tell you how many times I've experienced aggressive driving from young assbites (always young, always male). The favorite is to speed up and start merging into my lane before they've cleared my front quarter panel so I have to slam on my brakes. That, of course, induces uproarious laughter from said peckerheads.
My offending bumper stickers:
"Coexist" "Walk Softly on Mother Earth" "Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History" (This one explains my sig. line.)

That type of thing is why I never use bumper stickers or anything like that, tho'. There are literally millions of morons out there like that in the world, and you can't let three of them ruin your day. But it may be easier if you don't wear your politics on your shirt sleeve as it were (or bumper). There are rules. Never discuss politics or religion in polite society, or in mixed society. Add sex in there also, if you like. Makes for more pleasant days and more pleasant conversations. dc

76. Well i drive NY roads daily |
|
and on my coast, multiple slams on ones horn and pulling up beside someone to make a gesture is an aggressive act. I know aggression in my neck of the woods. To each his own then.

49. Please accept my humble apology. |

I did not know that so many of you were in Sacramento yesterday and apparently witnessed the entire event. Of course you would know my speed and trajectory as well as my thoughts and the thoughts of the asshole in the Lexus. I have gathered from you that it was all my fault for having the audacity to be driving on the freeway and that the asshole was merely expressing his first amendment rights in a brotherly manner. It was folly of me to expect that I could express MY first amendment rights.... after all, this is a Fascist society. And now I know how it BECAME a Fascist society.
I also did not know that so many of you were Holy men. Your godly compassion for Fascist assholes shames me... it really does. I am sure that every Fascist asshole is thankful for your understanding.... in fact, they are counting on it.
This asshole was the emblem of Fascism and representative of all of his regressive brothers and sisters in Hannityville and Beckland. Unless you finally realize that Fascist assholes are your enemy..... you have no hope. Get used to it.
Again, accept my apologies.
Out.

|
dissatisfied with Obama's rightward leanings? You don't. The only communication was some thumbs down, a shrug and 2 middle fingers up. Plain and simple; you don't know shit about them, or their motive. But WTF, someone should shoot them. Who's the fascist?

A few facts and a lot of assumption. Maybe you could clarify how you know what they were thinking.

other than, you freaked out over an assumption. It's extremely unlikely that they are actually fascists and they certainly don't deserve to be shot and killed for hurting your feelings.

I absolutely hate with a white hot passion the type of people you ran into. Smug yuppie assholes. I'm fed up with them. Where possible, I always point out to them ( within the bounds of legality ) the error of their ways. They need to be taken down several hundred pegs.

their merry way with a mere thumbs down, and the OP chased them down to continue/escalate.

You can just take so much from a mindset like that and enough is enough. If it happened to me I probably would have flipped them off on the spot. It sounds like it all worked out.
Stay safe!

74. Thank you. While I don't actually think of myself as fragile, I just |

don't want to deal with that kind of aggravation in red county, red state hell, so I give the stickers to my son to plaster all over his room.

81. ,,,walk into a bar and order martinis. They get up to leave and ask the barkeep for the total, |
|
barkeep says "$48.99" and adds, "y'know, we don't get assholes in here often."
Third asshole says, "Yeah, and at these prices, we'll shoot you."
I may have gotten that slightly wrong, it's pretty old... ;)
