A bad analogy is like a pinecone on an elevator. |

Wow. There's been some head shakers in the past couple a'days.

2. All analogies eventualy breakdown when examined. |
|
The purpose of an analogy is to examine a situation differently. So even bad analogies are useful for understanding your "opponent's" train of thought.
If you are feeling energetic, you can create a "path" from your "opponent's" perspective to your own perspective.

6. Cons use lots of bad analogies to push their views on me |
|
They overdo it and end up coming accross as patronizing and condescending; as if they need to present things in a dumbed down emotional level because I'm too stupid to see their genius. Often I'll play along like I'm not aware I'm being "played" and respond in an off-the-wall manner just to mess with their heads.
